  • Full Name: Cyolithe d'Rakh
    Gender: Female
Age: 142 (human) 31 (her race)
    Race: Prairie Gryphon
    Flight Capable: Via spell only
  • Overview

At only four feet long, Cyolithe is a very small gryphon, but don't let her size fool you: She's one of the most skilled fighter gryffs ever to have lived, and is certainly the most skilled alive today. Larger gryffs often underestimate her skill, but Cyolithe quickly (and painfully) reminds them not to judge her by her size.

She is named after cyoliths, which are a type of pale purplish-pink crystal with many magical properties. In the language of the human natives in Cyolithe's world, adding an 'e' onto a noun makes a new word which means 'looks like' that noun. So Cyolithe's name means 'looks like a cyolith,' and this name is well deserved, for when she sits still long enough, cyoliths begin to grow in a ring around her.
  • Appearance

Cyolithe has the build of a small wild cat such as a bobcat, but she has the head of an eagle with the ears of a house cat. Her tail is catlike, with three large wide feathers at the end that fork into three seperate "tails." There are several small pennant feathers on the sides of her tail and also on her head. She is mainly black in color but has lots of dark purple markings.

Her back is speckled with tiny purple blots, which become farther apart from each other as you go down towards her legs, creating a fade effect. Her belly is purple, but there is a black stripe on it, running lengthwise for a section of her neck. Her feet are purple too, and her front legs have two purple stripes on the wrists. The three feathers on her tail have purple peacock-like markings on them. Her beak has a little purple at the tip. All of the purple markings glow slightly when Cyolithe feels a strong emotion.

Cyolithe's eyes also glow purple, but they glow white when she feels a strong emotion. She carries a small, round, paper lantern with her at all times. It isn't a normal lantern and it holds no flame or bulb. Instead it has a Takhee inside, which is a source of magical energy that a mage can use in situations when a spell requires more power than they have, or when they have to do manual labor at the same time. As long as the Takhee lantern has power left inside it, it will glow purple.

Cyolithe most often uses her lantern to create wings for herself. Her own wings were amputated when she was a chick, because they had an incurable disease in them that would have spread and killed her if left unchecked. The wings that Cyolithe creates vary in shape and size depending on what type of flight she needs to accomplish. They typically are little more than a glowing purple shape, with the feathers (or scales, if she uses dragon wings) all outlined in perfect detail, but with the rest of the wing completely transparent.
  • Personality

Cyolithe is normally a very kind, understanding character, and she will rarely be rude to anyone unless they do something unkind first. She is also wise, and other gryffs know this and go to her for advice sometimes. But she will not hesitate to strike back if hit, either physically or emotionally, and she will hold grudges for a dangerously long time. Cyolithe is also good strategist, and she's very smart.
