  • Description

    On first appearance Xerxes just looks like another green child in the Nexxus, but then those odd shaped yellow marbled eyes capture your attention. His eyes are almond shaped with almost oval pupils, though it’s the triple eyelids that really throw a lot of potential adopters off. Like a lot of his cousins, Xerxes, has a nictating membrane that helps to keep his eyes protected and wet. It is translucent and is drawn across the eye while maintaining visibility. His nose too is reptilian in the way that it flattens to his face into two slits.

    And then of course there are the scales, those are probably pretty offsetting too. While Xer is soft upon touching, he is also cool to the touch and usually kind of moist. His scales give off a light fluid secretion, don’t worry it’s not slimy or gross, it just keeps his body from drying out which could harm him.

    Despite all of that, he also has the tiny sleek tail just starting to really gain some length. Right now it’s just a few inches long with a small spade shaped tip, but as he gets older it will become a tail capable of causing some serious damage. And of course the tiny ridges starting to jut out of his back, they are still soft and slightly pliable but they run to a point that will one day be sharp.
    Of course, there are also the small nubs of wings on his back stunted from ever growing large enough to support him in flight and made even more useless by repeated breakings as a newborn. They have become fleshy and occasionally when he gets really nervous they flutter in an awkward disjointed fashion.

    Then hidden beneath his mop-ish hair are two little horns that will one day curl with age, but for now they're just barely felt by anyone venturing to actually touch the boy.

      It was a very special day for Xerxes! He’d NEVER had Christmas with a family before, let alone with HIS family. The excitement was driving him crazy, he was doing all he could to keep his heart from exploding out of his chest. Xer couldn’t contain himself, as soon as the sun was up he threw on some clothes hurriedly and then raced down the stairs so he could stare at all the packages under the tree.

      “Wow!” And then he slapped his hands over his mouth, what if he woke up his mom and dad?! Uh oh! Xerxes looked around the living room for a minute until he was absolutely certain that he hadn’t woken them up. Sadly he didn’t know that both of his new parents were standing on the landing watching him as he started to peek through all the presents.

      Xer started to separate the presents making stacks for himself, Emlio, Gabriela, and his parents. Once that was done he rushed over to see if the cookies had been eaten, Santa was a big deal for Xer. Up until the orphanage he’d never heard of the man, but once he got there he just…clung to the idea.

      The cookies were all gone, well all but one and Xerxes grabbed that one and flopped on the couch to nibble on it. That’s when he heard them, chuckling softly up on the stairs when he shifted and peeked over the couch he knew without a doubt that he was in SO much trouble.

      “Oh no! I’m sorry, I know I’m not supposed to look I just…got excited. I’ll put them all back, I didn’t peek in any I promise.” He just had the biggest and saddest eyes ever, surely they couldn’t be mad at him!

      Alonzo grinned and leaned over to whisper something to his wife before looking back at Xerxes, “Why don’t you open the one with the dinosaurs on it?”

      Xerxes grinned from ear to ear, “Really?!”

      “Yes really, go on.” And the two watched as he raced over to start ripping at the wrapping paper. When he got it all off he unveiled a little treasure chest and inside that was a suit of armor and sword for him AND Saber.

      “OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!” Xerxes bounced around and swung his sword from side to side, “Santa made us real knights Saber!!!!!” He just couldn’t help it, he had never been so happy before well except when he was adopted.

      “Can I go show Sebastian?! I wanna take him his gift too.”

      Alonzo grinned at Xerxes, “Sure Xer, why don’t you take Saber with you?” Xerxes bounced and then ran to grab the macaroni art he’d made it wasn’t perfect but he was proud. And all he wanted to do was go see his Giant who had become one of his very best friends! He was even up at the top of the list with Steven!
