Could there ever possibly be the ability to get PM notifications from a forum post? Such as when you subscribe to a forum topic it gives you the option to receive emails when it's replied to. Can't there be a second option labeled: "Receive private message when replied to?" So people on both desktop and mobile can just log into their accounts and see they have a new message that someone replied to a forum their subscribed to? (and unlike the email/gmail option it wouldn't automatically check itself when you click 'subscribe' to save people from receiving a billion PM's.)
Perhaps this option could be useful for when someone replied to a forum you like to look at but the last reply was hours ago, and it's gone from the recent activity.

Interesting thought! There might be other answers already available, though. 
I will probably not be implementing this, as it's unlikely to save many people from email spam (most get emails when they receive a PM!), and there are already several ways to check for just replies to topics you subscribed to. For example, if you want an easy listing of all replies made in subscribed topics, Go to Home, and then from the sidebar choose "Subscribed Topics"
You can change this! Dashboard > Your Settings, then uncheck "By default, send me emails about replies to forum topics that I subscribe to"
