None of the help articles are helping. I dont understand how the groups work or what they mean? Most of them have world descriptions and nothing else??
Groups are sorta an extra area for a large amount of people to roleplay or talk without pushing down other forums. They are similar to character profiles (In creation) yet with more freedom.

Groups come in many different shapes and sizes. They can contain only world-building info if you like, but typically they'll have lots more.
At their core, they are for bringing together a like-minded group of members to discuss/play around that topic. Groups can be either In Character (for example, for a RP group that likes to play in a specific world) or Out Of Character (for example, if you wanted to create a hobbyist group -- for RPR members who want to discuss knitting, for example).
Although you get access to similar profile building tools as you would for characters, where you can write up world building information, rules of your group, guides on how to join the RP, or whatever else your members might need to know, groups have many more features than a typical character profile:
Of course, there's lots more, but it sounds like you've already been into the help docs to get some sense of what all the options are.
For example, let's say that you are a big fan of knitting, and want a place to talk about that with other RPR members. You might choose to create a group. Perhaps in this group you'll create one forum about swapping knitting patterns, and another for posting pictures of finished projects.
Or maybe you want to do a RP that is in a strict Harry Potter universe, so you want to gather your world-building information on the pages of a group, record what has happened in the history of your game in announcements, and have IC forums devoted just to RPs that take place within your Potterverse. These are perfect uses for groups.
Maybe you'd like to do all your communication in Spanish, but since the moderators on the public forum aren't fluent enough in Spanish to guarantee that all the chatter taking place on the public forums is following the rules, you create a group (that you can moderate yourself) where the primary language is Spanish.
