You just wanna see me cry, don't you? Also I like that you can see the scalp along the first character's part, that's a neat little detail most people (myself included) don't bother with.

... I have a perfect contender for this! A pic I did in April 2006 of a character I've been thinking about reviving! I'll see about drawing him soonish and then it'll be like, almost exactly 10 years, AND the same character.
I joined dA in '07, but uploaded stuff from before! That was when I had no tablet (THAT arrived in '08), drew in a sketchbook, inked with marker and then scanned things in to color them (poorly) with a mouse. Hooray!

Those bell-bottom pants are glorious, goddamn; Goo's idyllic scene is charming even without the rain; and Rigby's line confidence with a marker is to die for.
Let's see...I dug this one up from my old dA account, uploaded in December '06 (not quite a decade, but close!) Like Rigby, I didn't get a tablet until the following year, so this was inked with a pen and coloured with a mouse (frankly, I'm amazed that I ever had the patience).
Aside from the obvious stylistic departure from animu, the way that I draw and proportion faces apparently hasn't changed all that much.

I used 2015 instead of 2016 because I have had horrible artblock and hate everything I have made this year lol

Lord have mercy, I was a wee bab of 13. I joined dA in 2008, so I had to do a big of digging. My photobucket account is where I uploaded aaaallll of my stuff before dA. I picked the least embarrassing thing from that year, this is probably the best thing I produced that year and the surrounding years until I started taking comms after joining dA.

All I did for a long time was feral RP. I occasionally drew horrible anthros, and every now and then a human, which... oh god. (I also cheated, mainly for an anthro to anthro comparison rofl.)

Okay! I don't even think the 2016 pic is a fantastic representation of my art these days, but I just finished it ... and the original pic was done in April 2006, and it's the same character, both rendered in the same medium: Micron pen.

- developed unique looks for individual characters
- poses, poses, poses!
One thing I often notice in these memes is that the poses people draw their characters in get more interesting and dynamic with time. It's pretty cool to watch!

The first one is from '06, the other from this year at some point. Doing things like this really make you feel like you're making progress, while otherwise it feels frustrating and like you're not going anywhere. :p

Oh, gosh. I am so tickled by this little thread. I'm normally just a lurker (so shy!) but seeing how much everyone has improved in ten years inspired me to post my own little thing.
Ironically enough, I have artwork that is almost spot on being ten years old- of the same character, no less!

Found what I could from '06 and compared it to my most recent stuff. I added stuff from 2014 and 2015 because the only thing I have from 2016 is that humanoid drawing, and I wanted to compare to more of my feral drawings c:
ALL of these drawings were done via mouse, because I've been using a mouse since I started, and I'm super stubborn about learning how to use a tablet.
