Pearl (played by Sanne)

[This RP is primarily for medieval/low tech/fantasy themed characters who'd like to trick or treat! :)]

A little cabin in the woods, only a short walk away from the town's walls, lay surrounded by a thick fog. Scattered throughout the air were little flickering lights, colored white, orange and red, floating erratically as if caught in a dance but offering guidance to those who sought the cabin's heavy wooden front door. The path was made of large flat stones pressed deep into the dark dirt, with only sparse greenery decorating the immediate area.

Those who dared walk this path might be caught in a random surprise, from a skeletal hand bursting from the dirt and appearing to reach for nearby ankles, to the flutter of bats whisking past the top of children's heads. Upon approaching and being able to make out the details of the windows, they were visibly shrouded by spider webs with real live spiders crawling around in them. Pumpkins lined the porch, emitting unnatural glows of green and purple and sometimes nightmarish groans and moans.

Of course none would be harmed by these contraptions and the animals, faithfully bound to the good witch in the cabin by a spell, but none of it made it less spooky. Just like she'd planned. The one time of the year where being a witch was endorsed, she sat in her chair knitting peacefully awaiting the first knocks on the door. Beside her on the table stood a large bowl of various candies and even cookies, all homemade.
Liuma (played by FreeJayFly)

Skipping through the town and to the wood, Liuma had agreed that she would meet the others at the camp when she was done with the festivities within the walls. She was about to revert from her wood elf appearance to her origin forme in order to travel a little faster, but the lights that flickered in the corner of her eye in the fog caught her attention and brought her to pause.

Shrugging her leather bag to be more comfortably set upon her shoulder, Liuma went over toward the light, curiosity evident in her expression.

Walking through the fog, the young wood elf girl followed along the trail of lights. There was a momentary start when she felt little digits lightly scrape across her feet and ankles. When she looked down, she saw the bony appendages and grimaced some both in surprise and in disgust. Quickening her pace, Liuma continued along the trail.

The fluttering of the bats also caught Liuma's attention as she looked up and noted them there. While she was not in the form of a child, her form as a wood elf was still short enough that they only tickled the top of her head instead of smacking into her face or shoulders.

Giggling lightly at the bats, it was here that the wood elf wanted to raise a hand to touch them. Her efforts were futile, and she went back to walking the path of glowing lights.

Soon, the woman was upon the door to a cabin. Tilting her head contemplatively, Liuma walked toward it and raised her hand. Curling her fingers into a loose fist, she rapped the back of her knuckles along the wood and awaited a response.
Faeranduil (played by EarlyGrey)

The high elf groaned as his companion tugged on his arm enthusiastically, her strides a little in front of his own as she pulled him up the stone-laid path. His posture, always statuesque, was slightly slumped in resignation. It was just his luck to bump into the wood elf as he traversed the woods not too far away from their present location; her bubbly personality and uncanny ability to seek out strange events had Faeranduil stumped.

"Why are we visiting this..." He glanced at the magical props on the path, especially the glowing wisps that light the way through the fog "...tacky place, again?" The usual haughty frown lined his face. Nothing about the magic used here impressed the man; not that he let on, anyway.

The female elf glanced back at him incredulously, the flicker of adventure evident in her eyes. "Because it's like a festival, that's why! Honestly Faeran, you're too close minded." Faeranduil cast her a look that said 'I'm not buying it', but the arcane archer allowed himself to be pulled along by the ranger nonetheless. His bow, slung casually over his shoulder, had to be readjusted periodically by the elf as his companion's erratic movement knocked it from his shoulder by dodging the creepy apparitions on the path before her.

Of course, this meant that he usually stumbled straight into an obstacle, such as the bony talons that grasped at his ankle, causing him to trip. "And you act too much like a human sometimes." He muttered quietly, shaking the skeleton's hand from his foot. He cast her an unappreciative look, but upon seeing that familiar glimmer of curiosity, he refrained from any further verbal complaints.

As they drew near the door, he spotted the woman in front of them as she knocked on the door, the echo of the sound oddly muffled in the eerie mist around them. Emerald green eyes scanned Liuma curiously, though he offered no greeting to the shifter.
Used to ignoring the high elf’s incessant snobbery, Nessa was far more absorbed by the spectacular atmosphere the cabin had captured. Enchanted by the dancing wisps, she lifted her free hand to try and catch one of the little white lights as it passed, and almost looked disappointed as the wisp passed straight through her hand, continuing on it’s wavering way through the air.

Her attention moved to the other elf that stood by the door, and much unlike Faeranduil, she smiled pleasantly at her. “Well met.” She chirped, raising her hand to wave. Having finally come to a stop before the door, she removed her other hand from Faeranduil’s forearm, content that he had finally resigned to seeing their little adventure through.

Her bright hazel eyes didn’t rest on Liuma long, however, before she went back to scanning their creepy surroundings.

(Just an FYI, I will be responding to this shortly, but with the server downtime and a long, rough day today, I'm a little behind!)

(Sorry for the long wait! Finally got some free time again. :D )

Pearl paused her knitting at the first knocks on the door. How exciting! She put her project down and, with the bowl in her hand hidden behind her back, moved to open the door.

Now Pearl was by no means a breathtaking beauty, but she wasn't ugly either. Yet today she wore dark robes, a pointy black hat and had a fake hawkish nose molded to her face with a bit of magic, and a large, pulsating wart right at the very tip of it. It was gross looking and mismatched with her otherwise normal features, and she spoke with a shrill voice as the door creaked open.

"Who dares interrupt my night?!"

She peered outside onto the porch, finding no less than three people on her property. A loud cackle emitted from her throat, raspy and theatrical, but in some ways also quite disturbing.
Liuma (played by FreeJayFly)

As Liuma waited, she took note of the two new people that showed up shortly after she did. She smile, waved, and greeted them in turn.

"Good eve to you~" Liuma chirped before looking back to the door of the house. It swung open just as she turned her attention back, and that seemed fortunate enough since the shapeshifted dragon was about to ask the newcomers whether or not this was their house.

The woman that appeared before her, however, seemed to pique Liuma's interest as she gave a toothy smile.

"Sorry if I disturbed your night. Do you live here? The entrance here was really neat!" Liuma went ahead to say, oblivious to what was supposed to really be scary or spooky around this time of the year. This was the first time she had been able to celebrate anything like this since she had met with Valian and the others.
Cavalia (played by Kim)

Hollering her approval, the pony-sized centaur came crashing through the woods at a gallop, digging her hooves into the dirt and coming to a skidding halt near the other trick or treaters. Her flanks were heaving with the exertion of her run, but she was wearing a massive grin on her face.

"Now that, that was a haunted forest experience. And those lights? Gorgeous. Absolutely classy touch. I just had to come compliment the person responsible."

She turned her charismatic grin on the other people gathered outside with her, nodding and winking to them as well. "And a pleasure to meet you fine folks, all clearly people of good taste!"

For a moment, Pearl was a little caught off guard by the oblivious response from Lumia, and didn't know for certain what to say. Why... why would she open someone else's front door? For three long seconds she stared, then almost choked as she tried to subdue her laughter. Through raspy coughs she nodded. "This is my house! You've come for some candy, haven't you?"

Her hand moved from her back to hold out the bowl of treats. Most of the candy was caramel cubes in one flavor or another, with a variety of small cookies and even some chocolate chip ones. The real evil was not being entirely able to tell whether some were raisin or chocolate chip!

She perked up at the appearance of the stocky looking centaur pony and grinned widely. Her act of creepy evil witch was a little bit ruined beyond her appearance, but that was alright. "Normally I would say flattery doesn't help you near a witch, but in this case... You want some candy too? I made plenty for tonight!" Homemade candy always was the best, wasn't it?
Cavalia (played by Kim)

Cavalia lets out a full throated laugh, throwing back her head in pure merriment. "You know how many rhymes and children's tales and folk wisdom and actual wisdom there are about not accepting food from witchy folk in the middle of the woods? But very well!"

She makes a show of trotting forward to select a cookie, lifting her knees high almost as if she were a horse in a military parade. "Let no one say that Cavalia lacks for bravery or boldness!" Flourishing her wrist, she brandishes the cookie high over head, gesturing to it and trotting her back half around in a semi-circle so that she can face the other people gathered in front of the house. With her other hand, she gestures hugely toward the cookie, like she's presenting a rabbit out of a hat at a magic show. "If I turn into a frog, I'm counting on all of you fine folks to avenge me."

The stocky centaur then holds out the cookie toward her "audience," and makes an overblown show of slowly bringing the cookie into her mouth and chewing in an exaggerated way.

Pursing her lips and widening her eyes, she pauses, arms held out to either side as if she were bracing for something. She drags out the moment for several seconds, then does a little trotting dance in place, throwing her arms out at a diagonal and singing, "Ta-da! I have survived!"
She clasped her hands behind her back as she took a walk beyond the safety of the town's walls. The evening had been pleasant enough, and Maelys decided to make good use of her legs and set out for a rare evening stroll. She took wide steps, hopping from one large stone to the next. Until she stumbled when something caught on her leather shoes. Agility had her catching herself easily, but the hurried flapping of bat wings had her quickly bending at the knees into a shallow squat.

What the...

She straightened and took a better look of her surroundings. How had she missed the decorations!? She marveled at the glowing pumpkins that lined the path.

With wide eyes and a bemused expression, she continued along the stone path - this time careful to avoid the surprise bony hand that popped into existence. Her fist came up to knock on the door in a solid and swift motion.
The Knight That Smiles (played anonymously)

Knight was certainly very Hallow's Eve themed. He himself did not go out for trick-or-treat festivities, but was out tonight if only to be an escort for a small girl dressed as a dragon.

The girl was about 6 years of age and wore a hand-sewn costume that resembled a fierce and ferocious dragon if you could ignore the small bow in its hair. She peeked out from the mouth of the costume as they got closer. Knight stood by as the girl approached the witch with shaky nerve! Her show had been quite spooky and it made her second guess coming here.

"T-t-t-t-t-trick or treat!" she said finally mustering the courage to utter the words.

Pearl laughed heartily at the centaur's antics, appreciating the display of eating the candy. If she'd been a more mischievous witch, she might have put some harmless spells on the candy for random effects, but fearing it would upset some people beyond simple pranking, she'd refrained. "I hope it was good!"

She waved the centaur off after wishing her a good night, when new people approached. The grown woman was met with a smile, although a 'wicked' little laugh escaped her at the sight of the young girl. "You look so cute I could almost eat you up instead!" Then back to the woman. "What are you supposed to be?"

Then she held out the bowl so the little girl could take her pick, before offering it to Maelys as well. She looked down at the girl. "Remember, princesses need vegetables and meat to grow tall and strong. Every dragon knows that! So don't stuff the princess you guard with only this candy, alright?"
Cavalia (played by Kim)

Cavalia helped herself to another sweet for the road, cantering back off into the beautifully enchanted woods with a too-big wave. Hey, no one said she was subtle.
Liuma (played by FreeJayFly)

"Oh! Right... there are festivities that have people giving candy!" Liuma said, almost as if she had forgotten in that moment. She had just been so entranced by the decoration and the magical flair that the place had that she was very much distracted by it all.

"I would love some candy!" Liuma said after a moment. She offered a smile and adjusted her leather bag on her person.

In the process of getting her bag so as to accept the candies.

"Anyways... I do love what you did with the entrance to your abode. It's very entertaining!" Liuma complimented, grinning.
