I am trying to raise funds in order to get a dear friend (an RPR lover too!) out of a dire domestic violence situation.

To answer some questions I have been asked: It is not safe for her right now to contact the police, as he is very volatile and likely to do something terrible once out of custody. Our priority here is to get her away from him, set her up with enough money for legal fees and housing for herself and her child, and then get restraining orders and custody papers in place.
Please don't post advice regarding women's shelters, etc, as this is not an option -- these places are overcrowded, not equipped for children most of the time, and it's likely he'd find her. I am not posting this asking for legal advice, but for immediate emergency relief following a violent incident.
If you happen to know of the person I am speaking of, I ask that you don't mention her name. We need her to be as safe as possible.
Anything you can give will help her tremendously, and if she could break her anonymity and thank you all I am sure she would -- and I hope she will someday when she's free of all this! Thank you for reading, and thank you a hundred times if you donate or signal boost. It means so, so much.

When my mother was running from her abusive spouse, we had to stay in a women's shelter, but we had to leave after a couple days. It's not always an option. God this hurts to know she's going through all this... I've seen it, and knowing someone so sweet is going through that makes me want to cry so badly.
I shared the gofundme to my facebook and tumblr. I'll have to check what I have in savings to see if I can donate (if I could, I'd put my moving fund toward her, but it's already not much...).

I've also brought attention to this as this person is a close friend of mine as well. I've made a dA journal regarding the situation and announced it on several occasions. She's not asking for much and all the shares help!

Just now learning of this via Marius' signal boost.
I'm a distant acquaintance to this individual at best, but every keyboard to keyboard interaction had been remarkably positive and easy to partake in. Learning about this is heartbreaking, but I have complete confidence in their ability to make a change safely and quickly. Hopefully they see all the good things people have to say about them, too.
