This Looking For RP topic is marked as closed, meaning it is no longer seeking new players.

Looking for 3-4 stalwart companions for a medieval fantasy type RP. Will involve a little world building. I can cobble together a small map (poorly drawn with Microsoft Paint!) to help with the setting unless someone else feels up to the task. Open to suggestions as far as the story goes. Just need a reason for adventurers to gather and begin their quest. I'd prefer that there at least be one "good" character. A voice of reason so to speak. To act as a morale compass for the group. Either that or extra malcontent to act as the devil on the group's shoulder. If there are volunteers but no suggestions I'll pencil something together and we'll play it by ear. As far as the setting goes outside of location; I aim to keep things around the 15th century as far as technology and innovation go. Magic and sorcery are okay as long as it follows the one guideline in my introduction.
Magic 40%
Magic is rare. Some of the players might have it. There may be sages or other magical figures that could be sought out for tutelage.
Technology 30%
Renaissance
Combat 70%
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.

Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.

I would like to join, as Mistress Owl, if that is okay. (I'm horrible at group roleplays.)

Hey :3

May I direct you to a great map creator called Inkarnate? It's great for worldbuilding.

I don't really have that much interest in joining, but if you could convince me to join, I might use Edlin for this one. For now, I'm on the fence (no pun intended) about this.

That would be okay. No worries. We can take it one step at a time. Won't be four all the time. Group might split into two pairs occasionally.

Thanks a bunch. Happy to get the referral.

No worries. Not very good at convincing. If life were an RPG I'd be taking major hits as far as speech and barter go.

Unless someone pitches another idea probably going to start off with a little recruiting for a free company under contract with a minor lord. Currently a siege going on. Haven't the slightest clue yet as to where my character is going or why he is going there. However travel or passage on a ship isn't cheap; neither is maintaining a free company of men at arms. Its also a bit like herding cats when they are camped near a local town. Troops tend to get a little rambunctious outside the field of battle. Especially when mead and spirits are involved.
I'd be interested, so long as you don't mind my schedule revolving around university. I don't often quit roleplays; sometimes it just takes me a couple days to respond. I can work with whatever role needs filling, though, so I'm not picky about where I end up.

A few days response is fine. I know most of us have schedules to work around. I'll start getting everything together in a day or so. Just waiting on another recruit or two.
If this is still open, I'm interested!
I happen to have a good, voice of reasoning-ish character in the makings at the moment that I have been looking to use somewhere. (and if not, I can probably pull an old lawfully good concept out from the grave)
And, asides that, I'm %100 up to medieval worldbuilding lol

Its still open. I'll give it some time for one last minute recruit.

BTW John At Arms. Took a look at your profile and I'm happy to see someone else interested in the arts. I dabbled in a local HEMA club for a few years. Wasn't much but it was literally the only location offering instruction in the area I live. First actual school to open too.

Yeah. German long sword is all they offered in the beginning. I didn't feel like waiting for another class that started at lesson one. So I just jumped in and went every day the place was open. So I got all the lessons just not in order. Before the job change and move I did get to sample Messer Monday and Wednesday Rigen for a few days. As far as sparring goes I was best at long sword. Mediocre at best with messer or single hand long sword. I do wish more people would have shown interest in polearm and dagger. If enough were another class would have been added.

I can't recall the names to everything, because the instructor only used the German terms. Anything other than Hau, Stich, and Schnitt is going to get a blank look. However I can remember how to execute the techniques. As far as what they taught most of the class was Liechtenauer, Talhoffer, and some Mair. Italian was a dirty word there, and they didn't know enough source material of the other styles.

Awesome, man! I've always wanted to do German longsword due to my Germanic heritage, but instead I'm doing mostly Silver's English backsword. I did a bit of ringen at a HEMA get together up north along with I.33 Sword and Buckler and Wylde's Quarterstaff. Ringen was definitely my favourite XD if you check out Edlin, you can see he's actually inspired by the Liechtenauer lineage of fencing. In regards to the polearms, it's actually a bit more difficult to bout safely with polearms as opposed to other weapons, but I'm sure it can be done with the right safety equipment and care!

I did some polearm training back when I did martial arts and boy howdy can it hurt if you mess up during sparring, lmao.

LOL that's why I stick to rapier and backsword instead of those more heavy hitting weapons XD

I'd highly recommend it. Some things carry over to the other. Haven't got a bit of heritage to claim and I still liked it.

Ringen was pretty fun. Even though I was the smallest dude there. I'd really like to catch Roland Warzecha's class on sword/buckler and viking shield one day.

I'd noticed and it was good to see.

I am a little bit of a masochist. The other part of the definition! Not the kinky one! No padded jacket for me when sparring. Just gloves, mask, and regular clothes. I wore my bruises with pride.

Same, lmao, that's why it hurt to mess up. Technically we could wear sparring gear if we wanted, but there was an unspoken rule in the dojo that if you wore any people were allowed to hit you harder, so.

Yo this still open? Also sorry for my post beibg short.
If this is still open I'd like to submit Amena. I've done nothing with the profile, obviously, because I initially made her as a throw away character buuuuuuut. I think if we can have a decent group going I'd like to fill her biography with the events in the RP. I can of course fill out her basic information just to give anyone interested in her stats and preferences a feel for her. >.<

I've just been so preoccupied with my character Lottie and her RP I've near forgotten about all my other characters.

Oh. I also multi paragraph. O.o a lot.
Zay

I'd like to join the rp
If this is still open, I'd love to join. Please feel free to look at my characters -- I think Ellie would be the best fit for this.

Closing this now. Didn't expect to get this many people. Suppose I can split things up into two or three threads. Currently cobbling together map and something like a story outline. I'll send out PMs as soon as I get the threads started.
