SO question. As there are only 10 initial character slots would you say it's better to have a character that the faceclaim, personality & general essence remains the same but can be used for a large scope of characters (ie different times, historical pics & modern, from Ax to Hand Gun) OR just make 2 separate characters?

I initially wrote Andraste as her original character, based for a period drama but added changeable traits to make her more versatile. I don't know whether to keep that or just revert her back & make a new character. O_____________O

Opinions?

Also I don't know if I should bring over my Demigoddess or my Siren.. or both @___@
This is my struggle, exactly >~<

I suggest just having one flexible character so you can fit into more roleplays while maintaining a low character count.

Hmmm maybe both? If you end up needing more character slots in the future, you can just combine those two into one profile.

Haha that's what I was thinking too

I'll likely do both @___@ I just have so many characters, I don't want to set them all up & then join some group & be like OH OK I HAVE NO ONE FOR THIS
I'm taking the fewer characters with more versatility approach. But if I ever feel a certain character finds their "home niche," I'm not opposed to adjusting their sheet more permanently, to a fixed state (if that makes any sense xD).

Might I suggest creating different versions of the same character in one profile? You certainly don't have to use your profile in one specific way, I've even witnessed people using a character profile as a hub for ALL of their characters! If your character is from a canon universe, you could add a page dedicated to info related to that universe and state somewhere that it's optional. This gives your character the freedom to explore different universes as well as the one they were built for. I do this with backstories, my backstories are rarely set in stone. I love to try out all of the what ifs, what if my character was raised by this person instead? What if I played them as a child? What if they lived in a sci-fi universe instead of a historical one?

Thanks for the input!! That's a great idea! I have seen people use one sheet as a hub for all characters within a particular verse. I currently have her main set out, what is changeable by story & a page within hers that will be dedicated to changes within each Verse she's involved. So we'll see how she works out!!

Thank you <3 I saw your pretty lady too! I adore Katheryn Winnick <3 My Alice isn't nearly finished though yet o_o I still have a lot of stuff I wanna add and adjust and play with. I wish there was a option to hide characters until they're finished, but otherwise zero complaints here ;p I was thinking about going Epic for more customization options. Hell, we used to have to pay over twice as much on AP for barely a fraction of the options we have on RPR; I feel duped xD

RIGHT!! If I end up liking the community, heck why not?? Just depends on if I have actually focus on it or not if it will be worth it to me. I love the Charry Profile set up though. It's great!!
I have several characters made to adapt in certain ways. My advice is to make characters that, while they can't hit every genre or time period, make them adaptive for specific ones. For example, I have a modern day character originally made for normal, modern era roleplay. I've since then modified him so that he can be used in other modern era situations, but he can fit more roles. While one roleplay may have him as a teen in high school, the next has him as an adult walking the streets of New York, while the next puts him in the world of magic and as a student at Hogwarts. However, I wouldn't use him in a highly futuristic or medieval setting.

Obviously characters can be made to adapt for everything, but I feel that, to do so, it either makes them too vague, or far, far too complex in detail. I may be a minority in that opinion (I'm a minority with most of my opinions actually) but that's my thinking. Expanding a character to make them more versatile is great, but over expanding could, in my opinion lesson that character's worth. Sorry if I didn't really make sense there really.

Absolutely! The profile system is outstanding, especially being able to post as the characters themselves. Super awesome approach, making the immersion factor that much better :D

I couldn't have put it better myself! I completely agree with all of this. I, too, believe too much expansion can indeed detract from the individual character's worth. Well said :)
