Forums » Introductions » Hello! 💚

So, I am extremely new to this. I have always wanted to try to RP, and some of you may chuckle if I say or do things wrong. I write a lot in my spare time, creatively. I am majoring in English, and minoring in Theatre.

I have RPed through texting with friends before, but I am searching for something more. Decent grammar, colorful text. Romance, adventure, tension, angst.

I really love fantasy, medieval, fairy tale. I am also up for period drama, like 'Downton Abbey' or Austin-esque settings like in 'Pride and Prejudice'.

However, I am open to anything, and am just looking for someone to take my hand and show me a whole new world (cue Aladdin instrumental).

I am also inclined to perform this on a messaging app like Kik. It is much easier for me, but if not, that is fine.
Weclome!

Welcome welcome! Glad you've joined us. :) No one should chuckle at you for being new or making mistakes; we all start somewhere and we're all human, all that matters is that you are doing your best and stretching to learn new things. Even old hands still have new techniques or styles to learn and practice!

When getting started with RP, I really recommend this primer on basic RP concepts as a starting place. Even if you have some RP experience, it can be a nice way to see what the general norm is here.

We also had some community discussions awhile back about how to improve at RP.. I boiled them down into interesting articles for those who are interested. Here's a selection of my favorite ones:

Writing for RP
The responsibility of ALL RPers (getting this one right will generally make people sing your praises!)
And if you want to put a slightly more advanced technique in your back pocket for now and again: Using dice to enhance RP

There's lots of things to do and try here, so if you have questions or curiosities, there's a few ways to get help. Firstly, sometimes just typing a question into the search box will get you the info you need, or you can go to the Help section to see a list of popular articles. If that fails, our community is wonderfully friendly. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions!
