I'm seeking people to make a RP about the Library of Babel. In this free inspiration, magic is as present as in D&D, and the same races lurk between the walls, hiding under the books or creating entier cities inside the Library.
Paragraphs will be mainly free form but dices could be used here and there. Technology can be changing, going from stone age to near future, but the later is mainly myths, so I won't let player characters have it at the start.
Lets go to a bit of setting :
"The arrangement of the galleries is always the same: Twenty bookshelves, five to each side, line four of the hexagon's six sides; the height of the bookshelves, floor to ceiling, is hardly greater than the height of a normal librarian. One of the hexagon's free sides opens onto a narrow sort of vestibule, which in turn opens onto another gallery, identical to the first-identical in fact to all."
This is how Borge describes the Library of Babel : an infinite library containing all the books. Each room is an hexagon with four wall covered in bookshelves. Each bookshelf contains five shelves, each shelf contains twenty-two books and each books contains four hundred and ten pages, covered with three thousand and two hundred characters, a character being one of our twenty-six letters, comma, period and space. Most of the books are devoid of meaning, only characters put one after the other randomly, but sometimes you can find a word, a sentence, or even a correct and meaningful sentence.
Some people go on adventuring in the Library to find those sentences, and sometimes they find complete books, they are called "Words Seekers". Often though, those seekers find way more than just meaningful words, because the Library is also infinitely old and inhabited by an infinity of civilisations, creatures, wonders and dangers. Most of the time, those seeker end up installing themselves under a water fall and creating their own town, making the cycle going on. Unfortunately, more often than not, civilisations find each other only to start wars over words, because they are so rare and precious.
You are a group of those Words Seekers, venturing to find a whole book, fame or just words (them being the money of the Library, of course). You can know each others or just start as strangers for each others, you can be already skilled Seekers or totally new to the job, attracted by all the stories it offers.
Of course, extra details will be delivered, it's just to hook up and see if someone is interested !

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
Renaissance
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
