I would keep her background, you created that for yourself. Tweak it so that it does not match the setting. As for the summon? I would make it a spirit entity that is bound to your character, either through some ancestral connection. {It was your great ancestors spirit companion, helped keep them safe and through visiting your ancestors shrine, the ability has awoken that you are the next one to claim the spirit entity.} Or through it becoming attached to your characters soul/life line. It could also not be a 'good' thing, more in that it may require to feed off of others or her to function or could cause her harm if she doesn't do X ritual or something along those lines.
It could be a dream creature that has attached to her and influences things in reality [playing off of Disconnected from reality.] There are any number of paths you can take with that.

As soon as I saw her, she screamed "snake charmer" to me. So maybe, she's a musician completely obsessed with the dream to be a fine stage instrumentalist... But her skills are subpar, and she daydreams throughout her music classes so she's not getting any better.
The basilisk itself maybe was lured by her mediocre playing (if in a fantasy realm), and has since remained as her pet. Or it's a familiar of sorts that can't help but feel pity for the girl and wants to help her with her dream, thus it'll only start rising and slithering about like charmed snakes do when she starts hitting the right notes. Otherwise, it'll just act like a normal serpent on the ground. I was also thinking that it may be a mischievous sort as well, in terms of its personality. Maybe it likes to sneak into her items or her bag while she's not looking and pops out once she's settled in somewhere or when she least expects it. She also seems like the type to let it wander around as it likes.
Those were the first ideas that came off the top of my head, of course, and may sound cliche, but it's a springboard if nothing else.
In terms of the request... I'd love a chibi of either Maxwell or Mika, your choice! If they won't do, you're free to choose any of my other characters that catch your eye.

Jumping in here with a few things, first to play off of Yoshiko's "dream creature" idea...perhaps the basilisk is her imaginary friend in a way...maybe the creatures venom is really a special gift/curse that she herself can do but her fragile mind needs something to more or less blame this on...like she doesn't like knowing she can do it and so she creates a mental scapegoat...

I say keep the background since you obviously worked so hard on it, even if you can't be apart of that group roleplay the way the character is. As for the basilisk (WHICH IS SUPER ADORABLE AS A BABY. 
) Have Celeste keep the basilisk as a familiar that can be summoned without conscious thought (therefore not expending extra energy).
Or
Her schizophrenic mind could have prompted her to become friends with the potentially dangerous animal, and you can play off how the basilisk was surprised that someone would want to be it's friend (assuming the basilisk is more intelligent that normal) and stayed with Celeste.
Or
She could've saved the basilisk from something (this could tie in with the suggestion above) and now be in danger; the basilisk staying so it could repay the favor and they become friends that way.
And if it's not too much trouble, I would love a chibi of Storm

Not every character's past has to be involved with a roleplay. A past/backstory is useful for others who want more clarification on the reasoning behind the things the character does. Even if her past doesn't fit with the game, you can either adapt for that specific game or forget about it entirely.

On the topic of being a day dreamer, maybe she can't tell between her dreams and reality sometimes? I could see this as being a small little quirk that could quite amusing to roleplay with. Maybe the Basilisk tries to 'wake' her up frantically but to no avail? It could be a funny scene, at least in my eyes.
May I ask if the Basilisk can do anything like talk, or has anything beside its venom? If it can talk, maybe it could be a little scout and/or assist Celeste with things more than if it couldn't.

Like some of the other comments the idea of being a snake charmer is great! I can see the snake as a soul companion, they would be connected and need to stay close to one another. They would feel one another's energy, emotions, thoughts, pains, but still both be their own person.
Also she looks like a possible empath, someone who can sense/feel another's emotions without that person saying what they are feeling. The snake could be a portal for the empathy, it touches somebody and she'll feel the emotion or the snake forces an emotion onto somebody.
(I hope those ideas make sense!)
