Weekend RP prompt

Posted by Kim on January 13, 2017, 11:10pm

RP prompts may be complete plot ideas, a single situation, a character, a feeling, a challenge, or even a photo to use as inspiration. Start a new RP to play them out, or use them to add a twist to an existing RP. Modify them, take inspiration from them, or use them as is!

You're thrown into the middle of a battle between your nemesis and someone you don't know. They seem intent on killing one another, but you don't know who is fighting for the right reasons. Left with no choice, you...? - this RP idea was suggested by Hazel_Storm
Do you have a suggestion for a RP prompt or plot bunny you'd like to see featured in the news? Send it to Kim -- if it's picked, you'll receive credit for the idea.

If they're my nemesis, I probably have very good reasons for wanting them to die.

Others would likely have their own reasons for wanting them dead, assuming their goal in life isn't the single-minded destruction of me.

If I show up at Kefka's tower at the end of FF6 and see another group there trying to murder him, I'm not going to have much of a ponder over what to do. :P

Personally, I like the idea of....

Hero: "Hey, that is MY Nemesis, if anyone is going to defeat him, its going to be." Than proceed to defeat the new person and prominently confuse the heck out of your nemesis.

Afterwards your Nemesis would still be so confused and could start to follow the Hero around and be a real pain the butt as he tries to figure out why did the Hero save me, the villain? Could make a pretty good comedy.

This Rp prompt can lead top at least ten different plots and lead from many other plots. The purpose of an RP prompt is to inspire creativity, which you all have been very creative with your answers. Also would like to point out that regardless of the decision that was made you can get solid character progression from this one simple scene.

I.E The nemesis character hold a deep personal relationship with the hero or anti-hero whatever. That could lead to a juxtaposition in the character on what is the right thing to doooooooo.

Sorry.

Anyway you have all expanded your creative minds and i am proud of you children :) I would actually like to RP something similar or not.....whatever. I just like seeing you guys answer the question without knowing that you did.

I think finding a way to make it work is half the fun. I also think "I would just help the new person kill my nemesis" is a 100% valid answer to the question. You could find out if that was the best decision and deal with the fallout after the fact. :)

I'm not saying that this can't be used, I am pretty sure that there are plenty of creative minds here who could make this work. However as a prompt, it seems like a rather weak and hard to use one since I imagine a solid majority of the characters here would just go kill nemesis first, ask questions later/never.

oooooor what if *gasps for dramatic effect* they were only your enemy because of the other like maybe they played you both and you find that out and that makes it harder to choose a side~

(my mind is a fun place)

But a really good counter towards your argument is either,

A) what if you're dedicated and determined to being the one that defeats your nemesis. Are you going to let them die and not be the one to do it yourself?

B) yeah you're their nemesis, but that doesn't mean you owe see want them dead. Maybe you want them captured, or the rivalry isn't nearly that strong. I see it a lot like when Zuko helps Aang escape in book one of Avatar.

Yeah I second Katia. Most people would probably go "yay" and let the stranger kill the nemesis or help the stranger. It could be interesting if the stranger looked like a bad person/enemy. When I'm in a writing mood I'll make a little thing maybe.

Doesn't make much sense to me since you know, the the enemy of my enemy is my friend? Wouldn't someone just take advantage of this to finally slay their nemesis rather then question their motives for fighting someone else? It would make more sense if neither was your nemesis.
