  • Can I enter my own HTML?

Unforunately, allowing good users to enter their own HTML would also allow jerks to enter their own attack scripts. To keep the site safe for everyone, HTML can't be entered in any of our widgets.

But don't despair! We do support BBCode, an alternative form of markup that will allow you to micro-manage the look of your text without the risks of HTML.

  • How do I delete a character?

The delete button is a bit out of the way, to make certain no one accidentally clicks it.

    1. Go to your dashboard.
    2. Click the pencil next to the character that you wish to get rid of.
    3. Look at the bottom right of the character management page for the red X.
    4. Click delete.
    5. Confirm that you are certain you want to delete the character.
  • How do people get those custom icons for their games?

Certain game names and/or urls have custom icons automatically associated with them. Although you can't upload your own graphics for game icons, you can suggest one!

We need to know the name of the game (and any possible alternative names people might call it by. For example, World of Warcraft is often shortened to WoW) and we need a link to the correct icon. Icons should be 32x32 pixels and have proper transparency.

  • Why don't you have X feature?

That's probably a good idea! Why don't you suggest it?

There are many more features currently planned, and we're adding them as quickly as we can. But there's a good chance you can think of things that we never would! Your comments and suggestions help us to make the site better.

Keep in mind, we don't guarantee we'll implement every suggestion we receive, but be assured, we do read every single one and try to take your concerns into account as we pick our next priorities and try to find balanced solutions for the widest range of players that we can.

You can look here for more information about what's planned, or browse the news for the most up to date information about what's recently been added.

  • Why don't you allow music on profiles?

Music comes up a lot, but actually this community considers it a better feature *not* to allow music. This may seem counter intuitive, but I'll explain why...

Usually when you are browsing the web, what you expect from a browser is pictures and text -- you do not think you are inviting sound intrusions by visiting a web site, so if it is forced on me I consider the site rude and get off it as fast as possible. It's the digital equivalent of personal space -- I might like hugs, and hugs are usually very friendly, but if I'm just walking around and I'm not expecting to get one, a sudden tackleglom is going to alarm and upset me!

Since opening the site, I've been contacted literally at least once a week and sometimes much more by people specifically thanking me for not allowing music. A majority of people use their computers as a multimedia station, and are already listening to music. Playing more music they didn't ask for is just going to produce auditory chaos and result in a swift click of the back button to make it stop. Even if they are not already listening to something, there are people whose computers can't handle it, or people whose tastes in music may be different but who still want to look at your site.

Many people don't realize that it is actually a matter of internet etiquette, because they love music so much it doesn't occur to them that not everyone feels the same way.

On the other hand, music can definitely create a more immersive experience, which appeals to creators who are trying to set up a site that gives an accurate flavor of a beloved character. For that reason, we've compromised by adding youtube tags (letting youtube be the one to host music lets us dodge copyright issues of hosting music we don't have the rights to, as well.) If someone comes to your site and is interested in hearing the soundtrack, they can click the play button, and if they aren't, they won't be scared away.

You can also use the width and height settings to make the video so tiny, it's basically just a play button, so your visitors don't have to look at the video as well if you don't want them to.
