Pelldea Kiilanerod

Standing at 5' even, Pelldea has the naturally slender build of most high elves, though she is visibly as muscular as such a framework allows--wiry, lean, and fit. Her skin is a warm brown, with bronze undertones, and is marred by only a few scars, most on her hands and arms. It has weathered a bit with age, but shows no true wrinkles, and for the most part she remains as hale in her last century as she did in her youth. Other elves, however, would notice the slowing and stiffening of her movements, which hinders the elven grace she was brought up to display, and the fall of her pale hair. What was once black is now grey, the intermingling of white and black hairs giving it a silvery sheen. Straight and smooth, it falls nearly to her waist, but she usually ties it back into a braid or bun. While her features have the precision and symmetry typical to elves, they are cut a little too sharply--a sharp chin, a strong jaw and brow, jutting ears, and a slightly-too-long pointed nose--to be ideal, and she prefers not to refine them with cosmetics or spells. Her eyes are a golden amber.

In her current role as a paladin, Pelldea does her best to project an air of confidence and religious serenity. Some of that is genuine; she has a lot of life under her belt, and the experience she's gained over the centuries gives her an advantage in many situations. Some of it is not. All her life, it seems, Pelldea has sought serenity and inner peace, but she still struggles to embrace it, the wild restlessness of her youth resurfacing sometimes when she least expects it. Though her natural death is still far away by the standards of younger-lived races, she has finally grown old enough to accept that she is mortal, and that knowledge sits uneasily upon her, making her quest for balance harder still.

Dedicated to her calling and her duty, Pelldea is willing to give up much to serve the goddess, strike down evil, and avenge those who have suffered harm from the depredations of necromancy. But she is not reckless, and prefers to take a careful, conservative approach to her hunt for evil-doers and the undead. For all her skills and faith, she is still only one woman, and she serves no one by dying pointlessly--she will not make grand gestures without a solid purpose behind them. Whenever she is actively on the hunt, which is much of the time, she is blunt, decisive, and even brusque, determined to use her time wisely in the service of the Lady of the Moon.

Only when she is in a place where she feels she can relax will she open up, take her time, and be more friendly and polite, speaking with the grace and etiquette commonly expected of elvenkind. Even then, though, there is a certain reserve about her. Pelldea doesn't mind light conversation, but she guards her inner self carefully. When speaking of herself, she prefers to speak of spirituality or of the current 'phase' of her life, her calling by the goddess and what came after. She seems to consider her earlier 'phases' behind her, and anyone digging into them, particularly into the beginning period of her life where she was a soldier, will find her grow quieter, and grimmer, as she closes herself off. She may eventually open to those who are patient with her, but never with those who pry.

Her compassion for others is for the most part genuine, and so is her righteous fury when she sees the weak and innocent injured. Though she loses the niceties whenever she's on active duty, she still cares for others, and will go out of her way to help them despite the hardening of her demeanor. She doesn't like to show strong displays of emotion, so her kindness and her anger are both shown through actions rather than words.

A woman of strong beliefs, Pelldea values fairness and righteousness over strict justice or legal concerns. In fact, she's dubious of any kind of morality or restriction imposed by authorities and other outside forces, rather than coming from within; it is her belief that all beings should develop their own understanding of right and wrong, through learning and observation, and then apply it. She deeply respects strong allegiance to a personal code, even when that code conflicts with her own and drives her into opposition to to its bearer, while those who are unfaithful to their purported beliefs and vows earn only her disgust. Her own oaths to the Lady are precious to her.
