    Magnus didn't quite catch Domine. The second he saw the rough-and-tumble Machop while walking home from high school, he knew she would be an invaluable companion. However, his own Pokemon were too weak to take her on, especially considering that Atlas, his Geodude, was rock type. He challenged her to many battles over several days, offering her food in the downtime, so that they formed a friendly rivalry. After a while, Magnus couldn't find the little Machop, and discovered that she (along with many other Pokemon) had been pulled into one of Team Rocket's hairbrained schemes. He and several other trainers helped to free them. When all was said and done, Domine was happy to come with Magnus on his journey.

    Domine is perhaps Magnus' most loyal ally. Personality-wise, she is very friendly and outgoing, but also very competitive. (Much like Magnus himself.) She is proud of her strength and isn't hesitant to show it off in battles and competitions. She has a black band around her chest, as well as a black choker with a golden teardrop pendant.

    Halberd is the guardian of the team, both mentally and physically. She has a selfless and almost maternal attitude towards Magnus and the others, and would lay down her life for any one of them. Generally she is almost impossible to anger, though she does have one instant trigger: Renegade being in danger. The Jolteon's youth and naivete trigger a much deeper protective instinct in the massive Steel-type. Physically, Halberd is quite average for a Steelix, though her long protruding spikes are much sharper, like spearheads. Her horns are shaped almost like axes, alluding to her name.

    Halberd was caught by a woman named Jeannine, who tackled the Johto league challenge in her youth. Halberd was the last addition to her team, and never got to see much action before Jeannine settled down with her wife and had children. Though the Steelix took a proactive role in playing with and guarding the family, Jeannine could tell that she was restless and wanted to continue the adventure. Magnus stayed with the family for a few weeks during a heavy winter while Domine was injured, and Jeannine decided to give Halberd to him.

    Magnus bought Renegade as an Eevee from a "pet shop." Most of the other Pokemon there were bred as companions, but Magnus saw a spark in Renegade's eye and knew that the pampered life would never suit him. As soon as he could afford it, Magnus evolved him into a Jolteon. Renegade perhaps spent too little time as an Eevee, and has the hastiness and a bit of social awkwardness to show it.

    Renegade is Magnus' youngest Pokemon, and perhaps the one most blindly devoted. He does his best to seem utterly fearless, but has a bit of a cowardly streak in the face of true danger. He is impatient and rushes everything, often taking on challenges far before he is capable of handling them.

    Atlas the Golem
    Atlas was originally a gag "pet rock" gift. He was given Magnus by his uncle for his seventh birthday. Although it was humorous, Magnus loved hanging around with the Geodude, who was one of his closest childhood friends.

    Atlas is a little cold towards strangers, and takes a long time to warm up to people. He isn't competitive and prefers lounging around and eating to battling or doing anything productive, so Magnus needs to motivate him constantly (often with snacks). Thankfully, due to their long history together, Magnus is pretty good at keeping Atlas on his toes.

    After he evolved into a Graveler, Magnus traded him away and then back to evolve him into a Golem, without Atlas' consent. This caused friction in their friendship, and made Atlas reluctant to battle. They have since become firm companions once more, but Atlas finds it difficult to keep up with the team. He stays with Magnus' parents and helps them around the house.

    Koopa the Blastoise
    When Magnus had his heart set on starting his Pokemon adventure when he was 10, he demanded his parents get him a starter Pokemon from Pallet Town--as was proper! Ever wanting to please, they brought him a Squirtle. Magnus loved Koopa, but was unable to begin his adventure due to health reasons.

    Koopa was always a shy Pokemon, but became especially shy due to lack of socialization. Magnus and Atlas had few other friends, so generally it was only ever the three of them. For a long time, Koopa had serious issues with opening up to people and Pokemon, even when she really wanted to. She would even hide behind Magnus when she was being introduced, which worked fine when she was a Squirtle, but tended to be comedic when she evolved into Blastoise.

    During an adventure in a Water Pokemon sanctuary wherein Magnus and the team helped foil the plans of the dastardly ColossalCorp, Koopa formed some incredibly close, almost maternal, bonds with some of the wild Pokemon there. She chose to stay as the sanctuary's protector.

    Tyrant the Nidoking
    Magnus found Tyrant's Pokeball abandoned while in a Pokemon Center in Kanto. Magnus had loved Nidokings since he was little, and was thrilled to just stumble over such a rare Pokemon ... until he realized how out of control this one was. To this day, Magnus isn't sure if Tyrant is so unruly because he was abandoned, or if he was abandoned because he was so unruly. In either case, Magnus tries to keep the Nidoking inside his Pokeball unless he knows he has the time and energy to spend being stuck full of needles, poisoned, and dragged into a wild goose chase when Tyrant inevitably runs on a rampage.

    Tyrant is extremely aggressive towards both Pokemon and people, especially trainers. He will attack without reason and won't stop fighting until he is entirely incapacitated; he also fights dirty and acts especially cruel and vicious when he can. Other than this, he is highly unpredictable--sometimes he may attack outright, other times he'll flee, or simply ignore everything going on around him. He has no loyalties to anyone but himself.

    Magnus does still have Tyrant, though he is almost always in storage. Magnus doesn't feel great about keeping him cooped up, but he worries what will happen if someone unscrupulous got their hands on him.
