OOC Note: Alrighty. This is something I've been working on for months on end in my little bits of free time that I want to try out. e.e It's technically the second Legacy Journals Universe, but... I might end up making more than 1-2 of them because they're more like the Primordials than any of my other species, and my personal little happy things.

Egomotai Species Information:
Species Name: The Egomotai
Species Is: Extradimensional Conscious Emotions
Universe of Origin: I couldn't even say. Due to some restrictions I had to put on them, none of them can remember how they came to be or where they came from. Guess that info is lost on me. It even scrambled some of MY abilities when it comes to them. Ya win some, ya lose some.
On my last trip outside of this universe, I happened upon some strange body shells. A little timeline investigation identified them as belonging to a strange extradimensional creature which was born in their traditional dimension with a body. This body was used until the creature matured, ultimately devoid of any real function (feeling, etc) beyond keeping the creature safe until it understood it's purpose. This purpose was ultimately to shed the body and move into the alternate dimension of this universe, leaving the body behind to be buried by time.
It was an interesting find, especially when I managed to uncover not one, but TWO of these bodies, a male, and a female. So... I tucked 'em away and brought them back with me.
To my surprise, when I got back to my dimension, things started to get a little... odd. I thought I was going mad for a few days until each of them began to light up like a jack-o-lantern, the female in yellow, the male in blue.
Turns out on a previous jaunt, I'd picked up some hitchhikers of sorts... and there were more than just two of them. Another similar species, the Egomotai, had been trying to escape their barren universe when I visited it. Apparently, they were very similar to the bodies' owners, also extradimensional and completely unable to interact with our universe once they'd gotten here, and instead had been waiting for me to find something compatible with them.
Attempting to see into their dimension to discover their origin caused more than a hefty migraine for even me... I can't say I'm surprised that the little buggers are incompatible with our universe, as theirs is not only timeless but has far more tangible dimensions than our own universe and is simply impossible to compute.
What I have learned: The Egomotai are basically sentient conscious emotions in bodysuits. Not that they realize this. Oh no. They think they're perfectly normal, curious little creatures, living vicariously through their many talents::
Since they can't interact with our universe, the bodies (From another more like their own) are the only means by which they can be acknowledged. Each Egomotai is governed by one particular emotion, I've still yet to figure out if this is all they're capable of.... but so far, after months... There seems to be little improvement on that front. I've taken to giving each of them a name designation, based on the emotion I've realized them to be controlled by, after rigorous investigation sessions... While I've cycled through at least a dozen of this species, watching as the same body lights up with a different color, (Appears connecting to the emotion, the saturation of that color indicating just how hard it's pulling), when I eventually decided to help their cause, I stuck with the first two I came in contact with. Saga, embodying Optimism, and Diogenes, embodying Cynicism, have become ... I suppose you could call them friends.
They're like curious children wishing to go out and investigate our universe. And wear bodies like clothing. Have I mentioned that they're frustratingly selfish? Well. Except for good ol' kindness, but my stars does THAT get old. For now, given the abilities they suddenly have at their disposal once they HAVE a body, I've sealed Saga and Diogenes to their bodies, and used my weaving abilities to put a lock on them so they don't go running the universe into the ground. I'll be making regularly scheduled trips back to the origin universe to put the rest of the Egomotai in bodies, and I've promised that if they stay good little extradimensional hitchhikers, I'll even get them multiple bodies a piece that they can play in.
Sure, it's annoying... but it's not like they get to feel things for themselves, I think it's only fair that they can play dress up if they want.
Known Facts:
- Can not interact with our universe unless in a body. Without it, they simply slip off of our radar entirely, due to our incapacity to conceive the world in their senses.
- When outside of bodies, the Egomotai can travel at will, unseen and immaterial but able to view their surroundings.
- Each Egomotai has one governing emotion, which presents itself as a colored light that shines through the holes in the shell bodies. This light when inhabiting a shell is literally the ONLY true view we ever get of an Egomotai, and while it's simply a side-effect of their magic interacting with the body, it's nice to have a bit of tangible evidence that they're present and accounted for, rather than hovering over your shoulder doing who knows what. Depending on how heavily that emotion is controlling them, the saturation of the color can dim. On a few occasions, I've seen them only mildly affected, glowing nearly white.
- They're immortal for all intents and purposes. Obviously, no way to kill them, since they just escape into their blindspot... However, while magically enhanced, their bodies are still shells and must be intact to function. Without these, they're harmless. If anything penetrates their shell, it becomes ineffective for them until I can fix it up.
- The origin species looks like a total toss-up, so the bodies I'll be able to find will be vastly different, though all have this strange sort of gaunt shell appearance to them, and all have their own sort of 'light' display. Wonder if they glowed too? From what I see about Saga and Diogenes, some bodies have their own abilities.
Known Abilities:
- Egomotai can technically "Inhabit" creatures from our universe when outside of their bodies, however... unlike in their universe where they would be able to control them, in ours, they simply only result in that sudden surge of mild emotion you get from time to time. Unsurprisingly, Aggression, Envy, Cruelty and Greed seem to be the main culprits of this ultimately pointless tactic.
-Egomotai can switch from body to body at will, but can only use the bodies I bring back, and only for sustained periods once I've sealed them. To safeguard everyone's privacy, they're locked to their particular bodies until I decide they're capable of handling themselves accordingly.
With Bodies:
- Since their bodies are only enhanced shells, Egomotai has no sensations of their own and do not require food, air, water or any other traditional sustenance. However, Egomotai are capable of feeling sensations vicariously via contact with other creatures when in their bodies. In many cases, this makes their ability to comprehend 'personal space' incredibly sparing. In turn, if they desire to, they can influence the emotions of the person they're in contact with (Obviously only to their governing emotion).
- Egomotai are capable of viewing our personal emotions almost as if they were another Egomotai themselves, presumably in color as well as an aura. It's impossible to lie to an Egomotai about what you're feeling, though they likely won't understand it anyway, but rather try to rationalize it in their own mindset.
Egomotai Ranks
All Egomotai are polarized in a 'good vs. evil' fashion, within a ranking system. Though this means little when they are apart, it lends to a type of pack hierarchy when large groups amass together.
"Light" Side Egomotai are referred to as The Mazuri . "Dark" Side Egomotai are referred to as The Dezmani. While there are very few Dezmani in comparison, they tend to hold spaces within the upper two echelon of Egomotai.
The top rank of Egomotai consists of 4 Mazuri, and 4 Dezmani Egomotai, Referred to as The Sovereignty. Each rank below this is known as a 'Condition'. Currently, Legacy has all 8 Sovereign Egomotai, and a collection of Condition 1, 2, and 3 Egomotai in her workshop. For the time being, she is collecting bodies for the Sovereignty and Condition 1 Egomotai, and as such has already assigned names to each in preparation for shell locking.

-Saga and Dio's bodies are of the same base species by total happenstance. Because of this, they are lovingly referred to as 'The Twins'.
Winged Cat Shell Abilities:
-Magically Enhanceable: These shells, while still 'hinged' in areas, give the Egomotai greater control of the body. With the exception of their alien-like nature, one could forget that the body is only a suit and not the creature itself.
-Flight: These shells are capable of flight.
-In comparison to other's, these shells are made of a nearly impenetrable substance.
