  Pencak Silat
  The fighting style used by Rimbo is Pencak Silat, an art within which there are many diffirent variations and styles. Pencak Silat is an umbrella term, but there is no other way to truly describe Rimbo's art, as he has been taught a local style, created close to his home that, in it's own way, differs from the many other styles of Pencak Silat.
  
  Hand-to-hand
  Naturally, Silat is a style on it's own, but has a lot in common with diffirent other martial arts. Much like the Japanese Jujutsu, it covers many diffirent types of hand-to-hand techniques. It has ground wrestleing, throws, joint manipulations, and striking techniques. The striking style is extremely reminiscent of Chinese Kenpo, in the sense that it's a very condensed and practical style like Karate, but still focusses on it's roots and inspiration from Animals, such as the Tiger, Crane, Monkey, and some mythological creatures like the Naga. Rimbo's unique training also teaches him to use his tail in these technique, an appendage he oftenly winds up before releasing it in a whipping motion. Takedowns and upsetting balance are a large focus in a Komodo's fighting style.
  
  Weapons
  A persilat's training was not considered complete untill the student had also been taught the use of weapons. The Kris, a long dagger with a wavy-shaped blade was considered the main weapon in Silat. The dagger often worn as the sign of one being a warrior. As Rimbo, though adept at his style, does not consider himself a warrior, he does not wear or use the kris. Another extremely important and most basic weapon of Silat's weapon styles is the staff. It is an extremely versatile weapon and considered to be the most important weapon of Silat. The weapon style is extremely remeniscent of Okinawan Kobudo, as it trains in many of the same philosophies and even weapons such as the Chabang (Sai) and Topang (Tonfa).
  
  His Teacher
  within Silat, it is actually quite common to find female users and even masters. Some weapons are even attributed as typical female weapons, such as the Kerambit. Such was the case with Rimbo's teacher. She was an old lady from the same village near the coast of Sumatra. Tiny even to Indonesian standards, and grew small crops, mainly spices and peppers. She had a habit of braiding kerambits into her hair, which were her personal favourite weapon along with the Chabang, but with her old, aging body her preference started to shift towards fighting with her cane. To Rimbo, this old lady is the single most fearsome person in the world. Her training practices involved whipping muscle groups he was training with her tail or cane, pelting him with rocks and hard, rotten fruits while practicing his kicks balancing on a pair of posts, or having him carry her and her luggage everywhere, preferably at a sprinting pace if he didn't want a whooping. On a daily basis, she trained him untill his body gave out.
