• Origin & The Incident

  
  Once a cat burglar and smooth-tongued charmer, Tobias was working what should have been a challenging-but-achievable acquisition job. All he had to do was climb a local hermetic wizard's tower and swipe his latest potion works and deliver them to the interested parties. Unfortunately, it turns out the wizard was actually a practicing warlock, dealing in horrifying human and demon experiments. Extra unfortunately, the local law enforcement had gotten wind of this and raided the warlock's tower while Tobias was trying to burglarize it. Caught between the evil magician and the Law, Tobias got splattered with eldritch shrapnel in the ensuing chaos before he leaped out the nearest window, fell several stories, caught his escape rope, crashed into the hedge, and stumbled away.
  
  He only made it a couple blocks to one of his hiding holes before the effects of the magic became too much to ignore. His right arm had already lost most of its bone mass, his fingers resembling rubbery sausages before they began to melt together and elongate. Then what remained of his hand began splitting down the middle, all the way up beyond what had once been his elbow. His thumb had its own plans and stuck around, growing longer, like the off-shoot of a branch. His skin all along the arm was darkening, turning a bruised purple with lighter blotches. The boneless limbs quivered and curled around each other as Tobias panicked.
  
  Whatever screams he would have made were strangled by the sudden swelling inside his mouth. It felt like his tongue was a balloon inflating. It pushed against the back of his teeth, filling his mouth, filling his throat. The shear mass forced his jaws apart, easily escaping the barrier of his lips. His tongue spilled out, a mess of shiny purple that was several inches too long and rapidly growing. Tobias gagged, tears and snot streaking his face as he clutched at the tentacle that had been his tongue.
  
  The guy stayed there for quite some time, scared shitless and sobbing. He did finally pull himself together and leave the hidey-hole.
  
  Since then, he's been trying to find a way to reverse his "curse" while also figuring out how to cope with the changes.
