Pacifica Cross

Originally designed for a closed species, the design was never fully realised and I have since departed from that community.

In the future I intend to recreate the character as something else, perhaps assign the personality and background to an adopt or make her into a Ze'zhunath, I haven't decided yet. In the meantime this is just an archive of the concept and not available for RP.

Siff is obsessed with mastering an understanding of the interaction of all things. Whether a natural ecosystem, or how the stars and planets and galaxies move around each other, or the connections of individuals within a social system, she gathers as much information about these things as she can and holds a good majority of the knowledge in her head as a concept of "The Big Picture".

She is highly independent and individualistic, putting a lot of emphasis on the rights and values of individuals. She desires all things to move in harmony with one another, so despite her importance on individualism, if she sees someone putting strain on others she would definitely take the side of "the good of the many" and make moves to suppress "the one" who is disrupting things.

Her hobbies reflect her interests:
* Constructing biotopes in closed tanks and terrariums
* Collecting morbidities, specimens, and natural wonders
* Creating field guides of her observations
* Going to big events so she can observe and get to know other attendees

Since her mind is always so busy containing her knowledge, she often neglects her relationships and personal needs. When it comes to socialising, she isn't exactly awkward and she is capable of making friends, it's just that she loses patience with the process sometimes. This can cause her to skip the small talk and go straight to the interrogation, especially if her curiosity has gotten the best of her. In terms of personal needs she can forget to eat properly for days, surviving by grazing on what she forages in the wilds and the biltong she prepares for herself in advance. She has a good understanding of natural toxins, poisons, and stimulants and how these can be utilised.

Siff always has with her a 6 foot quarterstaff which is hollow and houses her blowgun. The top end has a black mark encircling it to indicate the mouthpiece end. She has a belt that holds her field knife and a leather hip satchel which also straps around her thigh. The satchel contains her blowdarts and vials of toxins she can apply to the sharp tips.

She likes routines and likes to plan her days in advance. She makes time for meditation, working on her terrariums, caring for her plants, adjusting displays, and simply giving herself space to think about the things she discovered in a day. She keeps a strict sleeping schedule and gets irritated if anything delays her from this, especially.

Siff is difficult to be friends with because she can disappear for weeks at a time and then show up as a friend only when she needs something or happens to run across them, which considering her tendency to hermit can be very rarely. She expects her friendships to be mostly set and forget, much like her mostly self-contained biotopes or her displays which only need minimal maintenance and the occasional dusting. Still, she does put in effort when someone does seem to like her, and as long as they're respectful of her things and show up at reasonable hours of the day she doesn't mind visitors. They might have to be comfortable offering themselves a seat and asking for a drink rather than waiting for invitation and hospitality from their host, though.

Conversations with her can be frustrating. She doesn't give away anything for free and will always be trying to learn much more about the other person than she is willing to share about herself which makes connection difficult. If she doesn't like a question she thinks nothing of shifting focus or pretending not to have heard at all! Anyone she finds boring will be made quickly aware she has no interest in continuing conversation when her curiosity about them ceases in silence.

As for romantic interests, Siff seems largely unavailable but the fact is she's incredibly picky. She does experience loneliness but for the most part she's so driven by her curiosity she barely has time to worry about it. Traditional courtship isn't going to interest her, with gifts of flowers and chocolates seen as proof that the sender doesn't understand her at all. Whoever does catch her interest would have to appreciate her curiosity of the world and its workings, her individualism and independence, and be able to convince her that a partnership would be beneficial on a practical level, not just an emotional one. Once she's committed to someone she would be absolutely dedicated and loyal as a partner and expect the same in return, so this is no small decision she would make hastily.

It's not that Siff is morally opposed to most vices, they just don't hold her attention and are quickly dropped from her priorities list. Siff's only known addiction is the gathering of knowledge. Her investigations lead to her knowing a lot more than she lets on but her secrets are never for sale and she is very cautious about sharing information. Her morality puts the greatest emphasis on harmony, so if she believes she can use the information she has to manipulate a situation towards her idea of "the greater good" she will do so, and in extreme cases she wouldn't be opposed to blackmailing a particularly malicious individual if she is mostly confident the threat will prevent an undesirable course of action.

Whenever possible she will use mediation and diplomacy to resolve a conflict, and she is very good at seeing all sides of an argument even if she doesn't personally empathise with any of the involved parties. Despite this, if push comes to shove she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty and fight for the side of peace. She has a decent enough understanding of basic anatomy and the principles of physics to take the advantage in hand to hand combat, and she is also skilled at using her quarterstaff. If she has her bag with her she even has the option of delivering sleeping or paralysing agents from range using her blowgun.

Siff is very protective of her sleep schedule and very uncompromising about it. This is because she needs the time to unwind and sort her mind or she quickly becomes stressed and overwhelmed which leads her to become overemotional. In her mind being unable to control her emotions is a completely unacceptable state! It doesn't necessarily need to be at night, and sometimes her current investigations require her to keep a nocturnal schedule, but it does need to be a certain amount daily so moving her sleep schedule around is done slowly and with plenty of planning and forethought.

Normally a solid 9 hours is needed every 24 hours. This is because vivid dreaming is exceedingly important for her overall health and stability, especially when she fills her days with details, logic, and self-control. She requires time to release that burden of control safely through dreaming so she can bring her emotional and mental state into balance.
