30 years ago The Jade Empire suffered from an event called The Great Drought, after suffering the drought for 10 years The Emperor, Sun Hai, and his brothers Sun Kin and The Glorious Strategist, led an invasion on the temple of Dirge, where the Water Dragon would guide the souls of the dead, the inhabitants of this temple known as Spirit Monks defended the Temple valiantly but were ultimately defeated, there was only one survivor, an infant born mere months before the invasion, taken away by a man named Li, they fled to the small town of Two Rivers.

Over the next 20 years Li trained young Jin to be an expert martial artist training him in the ways of The Heavenly Wave and Legendary Strike martial styles, on the day of Jin's final test to graduate the Martial School at two rivers Li revealed himself as Sun Li the Glorious Strategist, and that he tried to help the monks defend against the Imperial Army, and instructed Jin to enter the caves below the school, it was there that Jin learned his heritage and communed with the Spirit of The Water Dragon who gifted him the magical style of Dire Flame, all of this happened after he got an item which Master Li hid in the caves, the Dragon Amulet, a focus for the spirit monks to draw great power from Essence gems. it was also on this day that Two rivers was Destroyed by Gao the Greater, and his son (a Student at two rivers called Gao the Lesser) kidnapped Dawn Star, Jin's oldest friend, leaving the town to rescue his friend Jin faced Gao in a cave infested with Toad Demons and Ogres.

in the Marshes outside of Two Rivers Jin met Sagacious Zu, who helped Jin rescue Dawn Star, taking a machine called a Flyer, the three warriors found the school and Town burning, Jin, Zu and Dawn all fought off Gao's men who ere killing students, after this Jin, Zu, and Dawn all left for the Imperial city to rescue master li and for Jin to face Sun Hai for his crimes against the natural order.

after many adventures in the empire, facing the wandering Ghosts, vicious bandits and monstrous demons, Jin faced Sun Hai and defeated him, rescuing his master, but Li Betrayed Jin, killing him, the Water Dragon used the last of her powers to send Jin to the ruins of Dirge, to restore the mystical fountains of the water dragon and defeat a powerful unnatural entity that was feeding off her death, Jin then faced the Imperial army after his friends were sent to Dirge by the dragon, after facing death's Hand, The Leader of The Lotus Assassins Jin learned that Hai murdered Kin and used a ritual to bind his soul to the armour of Sun Li, left behind after the first siege of Dirge, Jin returned to the Palace and faced his old master.

The battle was grueling and almost claimed Jin's life, but with a final desperate strike, Jin defeated his master and brought peace to the empire.
