Personality

  • General

    Childish/Naive
    Having spent a great majority of her time in the Dream, she is not entirely mature; there is a REALLY long way to go before she can earn the role of "Mentor", at the moment being stuck somewhere between "Apprentice" and "Helpful Side-Character". She can be woefully unobservant, but is at least able to pick her words carefully as both a people-pleaser and someone who has dealt with fae. Teensy bit genre-savvy having lived in a world ruled by story tropes and cliches, but not enough to keep herself from being a trouble magnet.

    Stubborn
    Has a bad habit of wanting to do things completely by herself. Fairly reckless and selfish in her stubbornness. Inevitably upset when it doesn't turn out right from the first go. Will occasionally be stubborn enough to do something that could hurt her if it means progress is made. The concept of choice and the freedom to do what you want is incredibly important to Nemo.

    Friendly, but…
    Tone is fairly casual and friendly (sometimes a bit silly or playful), unless speaking to someone they find intimidating. Modern-day speech. Also makes use of some fairly strange analogies.

    They are fairly open to conversation, even if a bit nervous. There is a longing to make proper bonds, but with the constant cycling of “chosen heroes” in their world there’s the fear of losing any new friends. They will try their best not to get too attached, but will continue to act friendly out of fear of offending people. Constantly worried about overstepping boundaries, so genuine friendship may take some convincing.

    With people they do not particularly like, they can be passive-aggressive (considering the amount of bitterness they harbour towards the Court, they are not above pettiness or anger).

    Mood and General Disposition
    Is constantly between exasperation, excitement, fear and plain confusion (especially confusion), but they'll make light of it all through nervous laughter. Super in need of sleep. A bit obsessive with notes and sketches. They tend to gesture a whole lot when excited or distressed. When tired, they're grumbling and more likely to outright say whatever's on their mind. When alone with their thoughts and with no work to throw theirself in, they're unusually quiet.

    Some Nice Things
    ☺Fairly creative, and enjoys sketching and playing music.
    ☺Hasn't mastered an instrument yet (can play the recorder pretty well) nor music theory, but very interested in both.
    ☺Enjoys listening to people, has a great love for storytelling and will rant and rave about the importance of having storytellers in the world, given the chance.
    ☺Very eager to learn (thankfully) and is very much a hands-on learner.
    ☺They are (at least outwardly), an optimist/idealist.

    Goal
    At the moment they are desperate to learn anything from anyone, to ensure their status as apprentice and then hopefully, they’ll master a skill enough to reach mentorship. From there, they believe that they could fix things and let choice decide, rather than the Court's "destiny".

  • The "Real World"

    Somehow even more neurotic in "real life" (present-day setting, magic not recognized by most as real), she jumps at everything and is instantly worried if anyone tries talking to her. Much more soft-spoken and nervous in this world than in the Dream, and very much out of her element. Still, she does her best to be polite and helpful, and once again, being a huge people-pleaser, is constantly afraid of upsetting people—even if she doesn't know them.

    They're aware there are probably others like them, but it's hard to make out which people have really been there and which are only remembering childhood dreams. There's a degree of selfishness and jealousy there too, considering the situation very much a "hey, that's MY thing".

    She resents coming back to this world, only returning when absolutely necessary, and throwing any free time into either sneaking back into the Dream or finding a step closer to her goal. To some extent, she realizes how unhealthy this is, but brushes off the importance of her life here too. She thinks she'll probably be more willing if she was visiting by choice, and that can't happen until she stops things.
