Prof. Friedrich Ekkehard

Ekkehard has many friends, most of which are quite influential in one way or another. Their importance varies, but there is one consistent theme: He seems to make friends with those who can provide their own histories, from their own times and their own cultures. Among those are 'experts' in supernatural studies, whom he visits often to discuss what he may or may not be. Despite the apparent shallowness of these connections, he truly holds a deep affection for every person he calls 'friend'.

Friedrich has a kind heart and an open mind, often sharing his thoughts with anyone who will listen and discuss with him. He is rather easy to connect with, provided the person he's speaking with shows any sort of relevant interest in his own interests.

Life for Professor Ekkehard began around 1290 A.D. in what is known now as Germany, just before the end of the High Middle Ages. Perhaps he was born, or he was given to an unsuspecting mother, but regardless, he started as a child, growing up just the same as any human man. He led an ordinary life as an ordinary man, never making any true difference in the lives of those around him.
Though, as decades went by, he began to notice something peculiar about himself. He was aging, yes, but with every year that went by, he seemed to age slower and slower. He outlived his parents, his siblings, his wife, and eventually his children. He went from being a legend to being considered a threat, a beast, and even called a witch's bastard by some. At the nearly two-hundred year mark, his aging had slowed so much that it had almost altogether stopped, and would continue to slow until he remained physically the same age for millennia.

He moves frequently, to protect his identity, whatever it may be, though he uses his seeming immortality as a chance to collect and record histories and knowledge, publishing his works under dozens of pen names.

Friedrich is a Medievalist History Professor, specializing in not only the major events but also the historiography and social aspects of the times. His class is a rigorous program that many fail but usually choose to repeat because of how passionate he is about the subject. He changes universities every couple decades to prevent suspicion of his circumvention of aging, but always manages to land a job at a prestigious college.

Outside of credit classes, he also runs one of the few faculty-guided clubs. It is a niche club, one that focuses on mythological creatures discussed throughout the medieval periods mostly, though quite often 'studies' are done about other cultures and times that have correlating myths surrounding certain fictional beings. As of yet, he has found no answers as to what he might be.

Despite his supposed immortality and his keen mind, Friedrich has chosen a life of blissful peace, and the collection of knowledge. He owns a grand home wherever he moves to, filled to the brim with ancient books and items, some of which were his own since childhood. He hoards knowledge of powerful beings people believe do not exist, though he knows they do. He has met countless other beings; vampires, djinni, devils, and dragons among them, though not one has been able to determine what he is in return. Despite this, he offers shelter to any being that finds themselves in danger of being hunted.

He owns a cat named Giordano, who is his most trusted companion of all time. They can often be found in the soft leather chairs near the fireplace, a book in Friedrich's hand and a toy mouse in Giordano's paw.
