I think the main struggle I want to put on him is the one for control. Over himself, his friends, his life, and the world. I think taking pictures is a great way to tell the story of the things Walker thinks is important, like what holds meaning for him.

A) little awkward dude who resents his mom for being crazy because everyone is mean to him bc of her. hates his dad for up and leaving the family before he was even born (how lame). obsessed with academics because if he gets good grades he'll prove he's sane and smart to himself and the world. (villains are made not born).
is overall rowdy and takes risks to prove hes as strong as the other kids

B) little awkward dude who loves his mom and takes care of her, acting as the parent even though he's not ready to take on a role like that. Hates the dad for leaving and making mom sick. Wants to be friends with people and tries really hard but continuously gets rejected by others. (maybe an allegory for autism/neurodivergence or queerness).

i like the idea of A a lot........ I think he could reasonably resent his mother but also feel a sort of need/desire to care for her even though he doesn't like it ..... maybe doing things for her feels terrible and shitty but makes him feel important and needed..... maybe on the inside he wants to be friends with others but has been hurt and rejected so many times that he's grown to be a little more hostile or closed off at first ..... but maybe when he is alone / with his friends and safe and can open up he becomes more of a B type character where his true morals and desires have space to breathe .....
