Typical Appearance
REFERENCE LINK - REFERENCE LINK - REFERENCE LINK - REFERENCE LINK Renza is 5'6" and slender with very little in the way of curves. She clearly isn't built for strength, but she's got dexterity in spades. Her skin is a pale, ashy, light grey. Combined with her pale, blue-grey eyes, this gives her a rather ghostly visage, with strands of crimson hair falling across her face like streaks of blood. Old burn scars from an accident in her younger years add a touch of color to the right side of her face, neck, and torso, but she mostly keeps the scars covered up with clothing, or in the case of her face: her hair and/or a hood. Her left ear is pointed and long, while her right ear is shorter from the damage of being burned.
Gear & Extras
Renza keeps her dark-toned travel clothes in decent repair while her leather armor keeps her in good repair. And where would a rogue be without their trusty cloak? While armed with a shortsword, a handful of daggers, and a shortbow with arrows, Renza also carries a bag full of roguish tools: a set of lockpicks, a bag of ball bearings, string, a small bell, pitons, a crowbar, a hammer, rope, some flasks of oil, rations, and water for the road. Her most prized possession is an old diary that's missing a few pages; it was an aunt's old spell book which has since become Renza's spell book as she dips her toe into the arcane arts. A pouch of components for a few key spells rounds out her inventory.
History
Esparenza Fiametta Galonodel was born to fairly wealthy elven parents in a wondrous city known for its magitech. Born with a special, magical mark that tended to skip generations, Renza's parents expected much from their daughter, from elevating their status in general to getting them in the good graces of the head of their associated Family House. Renza wanted none of it. She resented being paraded around like a show pony to show off her magical gifts and she definitely did not want to become a stooge of the head of the House, no matter how much prestige it would have afforded her. She ran away. Her only regret was leaving twin baby brothers in the clutches of her greedy parents; she was in no way prepared to take them with her, however, so hopefully they'd be okay on their own. Living on the streets came with a steep learning curve, even with a slightly magical head start. She learned quickly of the world's propensity for cruelty but also of its capacity for kindness. After accidentally smashing a lit oil lamp above her head in a fight and suffering some gruesome burns, Renza was tended to by a fellow vagabond who asked for very little in return. Renza was determined to pay them back anyway and decided that she would help those who helped her, and hopefully the cycle of reciprocity would continue. Once she'd healed enough to make it on her own, Renza changed her name and moved from the cities to the frontier, living on the edge of a massive magical wasteland. Survival could be tricky on any given day, but it was never boring, and she was in charge of her own future. After one of the residents of this frontier town had helped her out, Renza agreed to do her a favor in turn, which turned into a massively convoluted plot to save the world from evil sentient robot folk who wanted to destroy the world or some similar bullcrap. Renza made many friends and allies, including a polycule of djinn who rewarded her for reuniting them with their lost child by helping her cut literal ties with her family: they completely switched her elven bloodline. Gone were the gifts she was born with, and she welcomed the gifts of her new bloodline all the more. All that was left was to set off a really big magical bomb to dissuade some dragons from attacking the frontier town, and Renza expected her life would be over. Except... the bomb was made of magitech beyond her comprehension and ended up ripping a hole in spacetime as it was blowing up. The dragons were suitably dissuaded. Renza was gone. Not "dead" gone. Just... transported elsewhere. |

Through much trial and much error, she learned how to survive and thrive on her own, developing not only her physical skills but her magical skills as well.

▲ Fey Ancestry As descendents of fey, elves are blessed with darkvision, keen senses, and a resistance to magic that would charm them or put them to sleep. They don’t really sleep anyway, needing only to meditate for a handful of hours every night to gain the effects of a full rest. ▲ Gift of the Shadows Being a shadow elf, Renza can teleport about 30ft in a swirl of shadowy energy. She only has the energy to do this three times a day. She is also generally resistant to negative/necrotic energy. ▲ Arcane Trickster Having made a study of the arcane arts, Renza has a few magical tricks up her sleeves: Level 0 spells (no limit): Invisible Mage Hand, Green Flame Blade, Booming Blade Level 1 Spells (pick 4/day): Shield, Detect Magic, Featherfall, Comprehend Languages Level 2 Spells (pick 2/day): Mirror Image, Dragon’s Breath, Blur Most of the spells can only be cast one at a time. Mirror Image is the only spell that can be stacked with another spell. ▲ Rogue Talents Dexterity is the name of the game. Renza is good at picking locks, picking pockets, stealthing around, acrobatics, dodging attacks to reduce damage taken, and evading AOEs like her life depends on it. She also knows where to strike to do extra damage as long as someone else is there to help distract her target. She can also run faster than the average human. ▲ A Little Familiar Renza has a ferret familiar named Tavi. She loves him a lot. With some magical effort, she can see through his eyes and cast certain spells through his touch. If he takes pretty much any damage, he poofs, but with the right magical ingredients, he can be summoned again in any of various forms depending on the task needed. ▼ Strength is my Dump Stat NAME Renza can wield her current weapons with finesse and dexterity; just don’t ask her to wield anything bigger than what she’s got. Or to carry large amounts of loot. Or to carry other people. Or challenge her to feats of strength. She is noodle. This also means her general stamina is not ideal. She may be fast but she can only run for so long before she’s utterly exhausted, which can also affect her ability to cast her Level 1 and 2 spells, and vice versa. Casting multiple leveled spells affects how much physical activity she can do, so she has to choose wisely. ▼ Charisma is my Other Dump Stat Renza is not particularly charismatic. Her tendency to remain quiet in the face of conversation or to reply mostly with sarcasm doesn’t make her the most pleasant person to converse with. Plus, she looks like she’s judging you. And she is. This often gets her into trouble. It takes some time to get to know her better; she’s better with actions than words. ▼ Magical Disfunction Casting Level 2 spells especially takes a lot of energy, so if she casts both of them in a short span of time, she’s likely to burn out to the point where she needs a rest before casting Level 1s again. She’s also in serious trouble if she loses her spell book. She requires it in order to cast those Level 1 and 2 spells. If she does lose it, she can easily remember the Level 0 spells but it takes time and effort to remember the rest of her spells and fill out a new spell book. Days, most likely. ▼ Unfinished Business Renza still feels massively guilty about leaving her baby brothers behind with her less-than-ideal parents. She’d become emotionally compromised if anyone used it against her. She’s lowkey obsessed with finding a way back home to save her brothers. She’d prefer not to become beholden to anyone in order to do it, but it depends on what options she finds.
