  Grey-furred canine stood tall and compact; middle-aged and with a physique of dense, slender muscle which seemed incongruent with his aristocratic appearance. A gentleman of impeccable bearing with a twisting tuft of fur dangling from the chin of a sleek snout. Piercing yellow gaze was calculating, his usual cool friendliness occasionally punctuated by an unaccountably resolute stare. Decked in finery was this mysterious fellow... a sable coat which seemed to match his fur and his trousers, a burgundy vest beneath, a shirt of white linen and a black cravat. Jade cufflinks in the shape of tortoises pushed the outfit into the realm of ostentation, as did the chain of a gold pocketwatch and the ivory head of a mahogany cane, engraved with an intricate design.
