• Description

  An ancient dragon created in the very youth of the world. He is vast as a mountain, though capable of reducing his size at will. His armoured scales are the same deep black as the void between stars and his eyes hold within them the fires at the heart of the world. His claws are scythes of obsidian and his teeth are blades of white ivory. Great leathery wings carry this great beast aloft, at his true size they are so vast as to eclipse the sun and shroud the land in utter darkness. His voice is the roar of a volcano's fire and the deep rumble of a mountain crumbling to sand. He is the Father of Dragonkind, the Lord of Dragonholme, but he has tired of his vast halls and uncountable hoards, he has left his ancient lair so that he could once again feel the wind beneath his wings and the sun upon his scales. Knowledge, wisdom and a kind of humility rarely found amongst his Children are the products of his vast age, and he harbours a deep curiosity about the world for it has changed much since the days of his youth when last the skies trembled beneath his vast wings.

• History

  Faraclaw is the most ancient of all dragons, Father of their kind. His creation brought an end to the Second Age of the First Era and tipped the balance of the Rebellion of the Elder Races in favour of the Old Gods. He was a thing of war, a creature of desolation and destruction that tore the proud Ikari Storm-Lords from the skies and rained fire upon gathered hosts of the other Elder Races.
  
  The Dragons became the Old Gods' mobile, living siege engines, their shock-troops and heaviest hitters. Wherever the Draconic Flights went death followed and by the ending of the Second Age Faraclaw and his children had driven the Elder Races into hiding and to the brink of extinction.
  
  Faraclaw was at the apex of his powers. He had wrested the skies from the Ikari and made it his dominion, his fire scorched the land and drove all before him. He was Lord of Earth and Sky, he was Fire and Wrath and Desolation. All who looked upon him were filled with terror and awe and even the Elder Gods knew to fear the wrath of their most terrible of creations.
  
  It was in this dark hour, when all hope seemed lost and the Rebellion against the madness of the gods seemed doomed to failure that Terel the Eternal approached Faraclaw alone and unarmed, bereft of even his godslaying swords. Terel was the oldest and wisest of all living things, First Lord and First Servant, first amongst all of the Elder Gods' creations and most close to them in the halcyon days of peace before the madness took them. He was Father of the Firstborn, the Terelains, and Brother of the Earth, the Wind and the Sea. Despite his terrible powers, despite the fact that Terel came unarmed and unguarded, even Faraclaw was wary of directly confronting him.
  
  It has long since been lost, what Terel had said to Faraclaw. What arguments or pleas were issued, what battles were waged or what oaths and promises were sworn. All that is known is that when Terel departed Faraclaw's lair the First of All Dragons had been swayed to his cause and he and many of his Children would betray the Elder Gods in the coming days and join the other Elder Races in their fight.
  
  Thus did Faraclaw the Terrible come amongst the other Progenitors, the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of the Elder Races, and he abased himself before them in penance for slaughtering countless thousands of their Children. He joined with them in the Mai Aeilen, the Ancient Pact sworn in blood and magic, the declaration of war against the gods, the first mortal war.
  
  With the aid of the Dragons, the Rebellion entered its final phase and the Third Age of the First Era dawned. Long and terrible was the road to victory and the horrors endured in those days have thankfully been forgotten. Yet by the end, Faraclaw would fight in the skies above the Dragonholme against his wife and mate, Sylahee the Dread Eclipse, who had refused to turn away from her masters. There in long terrible battle did Faraclaw strike down his mate and hurl her ruin upon the mountain, so terrible was her fall that the mountains crumbled and fell upon her corpse as a vast cairn to mark her grave. This is why Dragonholme is the largest mountain the world and in its native range, for all near her that could even begin to approach her vastness were smote in the Elder Days by Sylahee's fall.
