• Personality

  Dry, cool wit. Codo will be the first one to quip, and always have the final word. Hot headed yet calm under pressure, a natural born leader. He doesn't openly share his past, but is always there to support his crew. To him, crew is family and his ship is home. However, he is the captain of his ship and his word is the last to settle any debate. Mutiny is punished with death, and for anyone to betray another member of the crew...that fate is worse.
  
  Codo and his ship never stay on world for too long, always traveling, always looking for the next job. He finds peace in the stars and is the last person to ever consider a life of retirement.

• History

  Codo was born and raised on the Karian home-world of Juetel, a son of diplomats with every privilege at his fingertips. However, boy was not content with the silver-spoon lifestyle, always getting into trouble and rebelling against authority. It was in his youth that he met Mireia, childhood friend that he harbored romantic feelings for; wanting to give up everything for her. Fate had other plans, taking her away from him to serve as a concubine for royalty. This had left Codo angry and bitter at the decadence he had grown up with and he left everything behind to join the military, assisting in the Great War of lower class revolting against the royals.
  
  There are two sides to every coin, and Codo saw the plight of the lower class he was fighting against and eventually defected to their side, labeling himself as a deserter to fight for what he believed in. The royal army had eventually quelled the uprising, and the leaders of the lower classes submitted themselves to martyrdom in order for their troops to be pardoned of all crimes against the state, including Codo. Though pardoned, those of the lower class who fought against the monarchy had trouble continuing on with normal lives, suffering from a stigma of unruliness. Most took up less savory jobs, mercenaries, pirates and bounty hunters.
  
  Codo became a bounty hunter, taking the moniker Star Fox. He would hunt down those the big leagues avoided, petty criminals, violent gangs, any and anyone who would put coin in his pocket as long as they had done something wrong in his eyes. He went by his own moral standards, and there was more than one occasion where a bounty would be set free by him.
  
  It would be in his mid-20s that Codo would eventually see Mireia once more in passing, married to a government official, just another of his many trophy wives; but something else was also happening to their world --- as Codo was about to approach his childhood friend, news erupted about the coming threat to their world: Glaxtropos, the galactic entity that consumed worlds whole was making its way to Juetel. The Karians had not yet perfected space-travel, and the world erupted into chaos. Riots, looting, entire cities collapsing in on themselves. There would be no escape from the dying world, and while Codo wanted to run to Mireia; he found little point to it if this was to be the end.
  
  Instead, the man took to the wilderness, drawn to the wilds of Juetel as though something was calling him to it. This was not far from the truth. Buried beneath overgrowth and ruins, Codo discovered a massive craft capable of interstellar travel and a being known as H.I.E.L.; her soul fused with the ship. She had told Codo of the ancient link between her moth-like race, the Zupapa and Karians, and the ship -- a millennia old, an ark of life that travelled to planets over history and populated them. H.I.E.L. instructed Codo to carry on with life, make sure their genetic code did not perish as Glaxtropos neared.
  
  He knew what he had to do.
  
  Rushing back to the capitol city of the monarchy, besieged by violence, Codo sought out the only person on all of Juetel he wanted to rescue: Mireia. With her, and H.I.E.L. they watched from afar as their world was torn asunder, only two remaining Karians left in the entire universe.
  
  Codo swore revenge for his home-world, traveling the stars, learning as much as he could about Glaxtropos and trying to discover a means to destroy the monster. He dubbed the ship the Resolute, and with every world Glaxtropos destroyed; the crew of the ship grew larger -- races of every type, more often than not the last of their kind, calling the Resolute home and themselves Nebula Posse.
  
  Bounties were still hunted, cargo moved, food had to be put on the table. One such bounty on an alien world known as Quinlos, had finally revealed a secret behind Glaxtropos -- a group of heroes from the planet Earth had temporarily defeated the monster and Codo went to search them out while collecting a bounty from their world. Nebula Posse joined forces with Earth's greatest heroes, the Heroes by Gaslight and the Department of Paranormal Investigations, learning that an alien known as Lord Mazool was controlling the mindless Glaxtropos.
  
  Victory came to the side of good, Mazool captured and Glaxtropos finally believed destroyed for good. Now the Resolute continues to travel the stars, searching out for a world its crew could call home and start over again; gaining both friends and enemies along the way.

  “Are you crazy?” Mireia asked in a half whisper, leaning out of her bedroom window so she was eye level with the boy who had just climbed the trellis below it. “If my father catches you here…”
  
  “He’ll go have a very stern talk with my father,” the boy answered, cocky grin spreading his lips. “And they’ll have to have a very awkward tea. Come out and play, beautiful,” He hung off the trellis, looking up at her with his smoky gray eyes, one hand extended, inviting her out into the night.
  
  Mireia tried hard not to smile, and failed miserably. She couldn’t resist Codo, and he knew it. It was part of his charm. “He’d skin you,” She corrected, shifting as she did so; now sitting on the window edge, her legs dangling off. There wasn’t a question of if she would sneak out with him. It was the middle of the night, the household was fast asleep, and no one would miss her. She gathered her skirts around her, and slid down into Codo’s waiting arms. He wrapped the arm he had extended to her around her waist, under her delicate wings, to steady her on their way down.
  
  “Then you’d have a nice new green furred rug to decorate your hall,” he joked just as they reached the ground.
  
  “Oh,” Mireia gave him a playful smile, parting from his immediate presence, but keeping a hold of his hand, and began leading him. “Does that mean I could take you out and beat you when you get dirty?”
  
  Codo had to stifle a laugh, following the girl from her window and into the gardens, following her direction for now. “I wish you would.”
  
  Mireia giggled, but her response caught in her throat when a light flickered to life in the house of the gardener, nearby. Both she and Codo ducked behind a brush. Ears pricked, they listened for a door opening, or footsteps in the gravel coming towards them. Hearing neither Codo decided to take a risk. He took a firm hold of his young love’s hand and pulled her with him as he darted out into the night, and jogged through the garden, toward the wood that lay on the other side of it. They heard a shout as they passed the gardener’s house, but just kept moving. They couldn’t punish what they couldn’t catch. They didn’t stop running until they reached a lake familiar to both of them from their many evening trysts.
  
  Out of breath, and laughing, the two teens collapsed into the grassy shore of the lake.
  
  “Do,” gasped Codo, trying to collect himself, sprawling out in the grass, “Do you think he saw us?”
  
  “Maybe,” Mireia answered, and though the thought of her father being told gave her a chill, she pushed the idea from her mind. “Arvo likes me,” she said of the gardener. “I’ll bring him tea tomorrow and he won’t tell a soul.”
  
  “Good,” he looked up at her from where he laid, eyes sparkling with mischief, “I’d rather not be a rug.”
  
  She smiled wryly and joined him on the grass, her head on his shoulder, their bodies tucked together intimately. “But it would make you so easy to cuddle,” she teased, poking a finger into his ribs, which made him squirm slightly. “Not so bony and wiggly.”
  
  “Ah!” their position didn’t last long, he knew the poking would turn into tickling, and that wasn’t going to happen tonight; at least not to him. He shifted so he rolled on top of her, pinning her hands above her head loosely with one of his. “If you want wiggly, I’ll show you wiggly.” His free hand tickled it’s way down her side. The girl squirmed and let out peals of laughter beneath him.
  
  She begged breathlessly, after a few moments of this, “Mercy! Please, mercy!” And Codo responded the only way he could. She looked so beautiful there in the moonlight, hair tousled, little bits of grass in it’s indigo curls, face flushed, fur ruffled, and eyes all a-glitter from laughter. He stopped tickling her, and let go of her hands, only to cup her face and press his lips to hers. He kissed her like he was a dying man, and she was his air. Hours were lost when their lips touched and their limbs entangled.; that is until Codo inevitably said something stupid to ruin the mood.
  
  This time was no different than any other.
  
  His hands had roamed her body, and come to rest on her chest, and the mumbled words left his mouth before he even knew he was going to say them, “Nice cans.”
  
  Thankfully, the girl laughed, and gave him a light punch on his shoulder, but it effectively ended their intimate moment. Codo shifted off of her, pulling at his clothing to get it sitting in a way that didn't leave him in a compromising position... not that she hadn't felt how she effected him. Mireia sat up with him, moving to look out over their lake and put her head on his shoulder, and twined her fingers with his. They sat in comfortable silence for a while, watching the moons move across the cloudless night sky.
  
  “I have something for you,” Codo whispered into the night, turning his head slightly to gaze at the girl he loved. She turned her violet eyes from the skies and to him. He brought her gifts often. Usually little things that he thought she might like. She always told him he didn't have to. This time wasn't any different.
  
  “Codo,” she admonished him, “You really don't...” He cut her off by releasing her hand and digging in his pant pocket for a moment before pulling out the gift and letting it dangle in front of her. It was a simple silver chain with a charm weighing down one end. The charm was a tiny, delicate, silver oval, and on it were two letters combined into one; their initials. “Oh,” her breath caught. It was simple, but beautiful. “I suppose I can accept one more gift from you,” she gathered her hair and lifted it while he clasped the necklace behind her neck. It rested just on her collar bone, the engraved side of the pendant hiding against her fur; like it was their secret.
  
  “Good,” he grinned at her, admiring more than the way the necklace looked against her blue fur. He started thinking, knowing even if he didn't want to admit it, that she could never be his. She had already been promised to someone else; a lord. A lord he would very much like to see lying dead in a ditch somewhere. Neither of them had any choice in the matter. Before he even knew he was speaking, words had left his mouth again, “Run away with me, Mir.”
  
  Her expression shifted from pleasantly surprised at the gift to full on shock at his next statement. “What? Codo.... you know we can't...”
  
  “Why not?” He was thinking fast now, words tumbling from his lips, “We could go tonight. Just run away to somewhere they would never find us. Just think, it would be just you and me. We could...” he paused before he said the next part, not sure if he should go on more, but that brain to mouth filter thing just didn't seem to want to work tonight, “We could get married and have a hundred fat babies.”
  
  Mireia couldn't hold back her delighted laugh, but it quickly died when sense came back. “Where would we run? You and I both know that there's no where my father wouldn't hunt us... I...”
  
  “Don't worry about that,” Codo nuzzled her cheek, “I'll keep you safe. You know I will.”
  
  It wasn't that she didn't want to go with him; on the contrary, she very much did. Mireia wanted nothing more than the freedom to love who she wanted, and to live how she wanted. The who was easy, she loved Codo more than anything. But her father, their society, would never allow them to be together. “Yes. I know,” she paused again, looking at the fear building in Codo's eyes; fear of losing her, of being rejected. She couldn't take it. So Mireia threw her arms around him, planting kisses on his face, “Yes, I'll come with you!”
  
  Codo brought her home that night, arranging to meet again the next, and to never return. She couldn't leave without a few things; they would need money and she could see to that. She'd also wanted to say goodbye to her younger siblings. He couldn't rob her of that. So, after parting just before dawn, he'd gone home to pack, and sleep, and dream of their lives together. The next night he went to the lake to wait for her, but she never came. He went to her house, to see if she was in trouble, if she'd been caught, but it was empty and locked. She was gone.
  
  It wasn't until weeks later that he found out what had happened. Weeks of looking for her; being heartbroken and lost. Her father- Codo was always unsure of if the old man had known about how he and Mireia felt about each other- had whisked her away early and married her to the Lord. Codo buried himself in his anger and grief, never knowing how much Mireia mourned losing him as well.
