Biography
Bear was born in 1993 to Martha and Paul Thibideau. They grew up in San Diego just a few blocks from Pacific Beach. They were average income, average workers, with average lives.
While other kids were playing at the beach and - well, just being kids - Bear was in his room studying science. He was fascinated by it. Matter of fact, by high school he had a great group of close friends who admired and respected his knowledge. He became fascinated with DNA and the human body. It wasn't until he met Paula...that something else began to tug at his heart.
It was sophomore year of college - and she had convinced him to let loose and have fun (a subject with which he was not too familiar). They went to a theme park and spent the evening at a rather noisy party. Bear said to her ear, over the raging noise, "You want to get out of here?" Because - he really did. He did not like this place.
Thinking he meant something else and after she had had a bit of tequila - she took her time mulling it over. Then, she shrugged. "Sure...didn't know you had it in you."
Well we can guess where that led. That glorious night produced something in Bear. Before he knew it they were spending all their time together for the rest of college.
You see - Bear - he never got that attention and that love he deeply craved from his mother. He thought himself a monster - a man of evil who would take over the world - he didn't deserve affection! But here she was - giving herself to him...and he lost himself in it.
Until she left for another man - without a word. Just a small letter explaining herself. As though that were going to lessen the heart break.
Alone, he was left to ponder the experience.
And suddenly, his dormant scientific mind jumpstarted. Why had she fallen out of love? What is the basis of love? Who's done research on love? Why do we fall in love? How do we stay in love? ...

...
And thus was the birth of the love doctor, Bear Thibideau.
His search would go viral, leading him to an on-air interview where he would thank Paula for leaving him - for showing him the downside of love. "Without her," He stated in an interview, "I never would have known love hurts. And I would never have driven myself to the advances today."
Which was true. After losing himself in pheremone and chemistry research, dopamine, plants, and drugs....he finally gave up on his quest. There was just no scientific evidence that someone could manipulate something as hardwired and chemical as love.
But all was not lost, for the ground breaking discoveries in Chemistry and psychology he uncovered solved some of the world's greatest mysteries. And he was awarded the National Medal of Science for his efforts.
"AND THAT! Ladies and gentlemen, is what brought me here. Now, I'm not going to lie - when I received the call from Bruce - I'm sorry - Mr. Wayne, I was both surprised and humbled. But I suppose I had to be a bit brave too, in considering his offer to both live and work for him here in Gotham City. I know it sounds harsh but let's be honest, the Joker is famous nationwide and let us not forget that psycho-path you call The Penguin. No....the only reason I was brave enough to come here - was - The BAT." He smiled Wryly, casting his vision upwards to the building where rested the famous bat signal light.
