  She turned to her commander, the light-as-cloth Centurion's garb making little noise in the process.
  
  "Respectfully request to resign, sir."
  "Denied."
  "Request to speak candidly?"
  "Only if it will explain your request to resign."
  
  She took a deep breath, then exhaled. She hadn't expected her commander to seem so unfeeling.
  
  "It is not the Bahmi way."
  
  Her commander faltered for a moment. "Explain."
  
  "It is true that I came here more than willing to do my job. The training I received in martial arts was more than simply -good-."
  
  "Go on."
  
  "But being the young Bahmi that I am, sir...I have found that in my time spent as a Centurion, the only use that all that training has been put to, is enforcing the law. When we aren't simply sitting around as we are now."
  
  The commander nodded. "So?"
  
  She tilted her eyes downward, fearful of further reprisal for her statements. "Not only am I incapable of keeping true to the Bahmi heritage, but I am also forsaking the Oath of Hospitality. I wish to return to civilian service, to train in the elemental arts. And to be the first to welcome newcomers to Meridian, not the first to punish a crime."
  
  "Alright then. Request to leave, not granted. Request to return to Civilian service until such time that you feel ready to return, granted. You may keep the armor representing your rank."
  
  She smiled softly, saluting. The commander stood to do the same.
  
  "Dismissed. Bounqua."
