  EARLY LIFE
  Helen Magnus is the daughter of scientist Gregory Magnus and his wife Patricia Heathering. She was born in the middle of the nineteenth century. Despite her time, she was an intelligent young woman, unwilling to be held back by the limitations put on woman during that time. After she was denied a position as a medical Doctor due to her gender, she asked her father of the secrets he'd been hiding from her. That's was when she learned of abnormals, or in other words the odds of our world. Her father used his influence to help her get into Oxford, but she was the only female student in the school. However she was able to gain the respect of four students: James Watson, John Druitt, Nikola Tesla and Nigel Griffin. Together they all formed the Five.
  
  THE FIVE
  The Five was a group created by Helen Magnus sometime after her father's disappearance on an expedition. It consisted of her and four other bright minds that were considered to be ahead of their time. They all considered themselves to be a part of something more. Sometime during their time Helen acquired a sample of pure Vampire blood from before they were wiped out by the Church. After having derived a serum from it, they each injected themselves with a sample and gained unique properties.
  Helen was the first to take the injection and she gained the ability of longevity. Nikola Tesla's reaction was the awakening of dormant Vampire genes that had been passed on to him from an ancestor. Helen helped to fix his thirst for blood and helped him to control his instincts. James Watsons' mind grew to new heights and required him to have something to keep his mind occupied until he adjusted completely, or his powers would drive him mad. Nigel Griffin gained invisibility which was passed on to both his daughter and granddaughter. The only one she was not able to help with their abnormality was her ex-lover John Druitt; he gained the ability of teleportation, but the blood drove him mad, so much that he became the one of the greatest killers in history: Jack the Ripper.
  The leader of the Five, although they would never admit it, was Helen, because she was able to keep them all in line and focused. John and James once jokingly hinted to her being their leader. Helen and John conceived a child together in the 1880s which would stay frozen for about a century before becoming Ashley Magnus, when loneliness overtook Helen.
