*Human: Born and raised as a mere mortal, only to be captured by a malicious alchemist and used for experiments. After he was bound with a phoenix, he was renamed Project Ikarus, though now he only goes by Ikarus. Any attempts to unbind the souls would result in immediate death, no matter the power of the caster. Despite this, he does not identify himself with his phoenix side. If you ask him, he will call himself human, if you prod, he'll probably explain. At least in part. But he'll probably like you more if you don't say anything.
Personality: Very quiet, rather socially awkward. It takes him a long time to really warm up to people to the point where he'd take it upon himself to start a conversation. He is easily flustered, and is prone to going 'mute'. He's non-confrontational to the point of it being easier for him to just let people have their way, than try and get in the way. There are very few situations where he will actually be able to put himself into a conflict, and most include the possible loss of life. In general, he will take no actions other than trying to run away to protect himself.
Update: Having settled down and worked up to a fairly independent life, Ikarus is much more comfortable with himself. He will now greet strangers on his own, and occasionally even slip in a sarcastic comment or two. Still easy to fluster, however, sending him back a couple steps to his meeker side.
Trade: He is a healer by trade. For the most part, he has been trained in holistic medicine, and herbalism. For most minor scrapes and injuries, he suggests and prefers to use these methods. However, being part phoenix, he also possesses more magical healing abilities for more immediately-life-threatening injuries.
Update: It is arguable that he has now become a cook by trade. Enjoying the preparation and the endless recipes, he's taken quite well to the craft, and appears to enjoy his work.
Update: Given the title of Lord on the isle of Dandria's Rest, Ikarus acts as Justicar for the island, as well as Trade Minister.
Abilities(/magic): It should be noted that Ikarus does not flaunt his abilities, and unless directly questioned- generally won't even reference magic abilities of any kind. Especially his Death-resistance. He'd much rather people believe he's immortal, than get the inklings that they can kill him; survival instincts here.
Healing- He is able to channel energy from his surroundings (particularly the earth) to heal individuals. However he is not powerful enough to work on more than one person at a time, and he cannot channel energy from himself- so if no residual energy exists in the area, or there is more than one person seriously wounded; tough luck, kid.
Death-resistance- Not to be confused with true immortality. He can die- just not by physical means. He can be severely damaged by physical means, he simply won't die from them. Stake through the heart? Thrown in a raging fire? Tied to a rock and tossed into water? He'll sustain wounds, he will be emotionally affected, and he will take time to heal- but he won't die. Not unless it's a mystical death stake, a magic killing fire, or an enchanted drowning lake. But it should be noted that he's also pretty good at avoiding those things.
Magic sense- He can tell when there is something magic in the area, and usually he can tell if it is benevolent, or malevolent. He wouldn't be able to tell you if something was enchanted with a specific purpose, merely if it was 'good' or 'bad'. This ability is usually impaired on people, he's not sure why, it just doesn't seem to work the same. Sometimes if someone is of strong magic, he can tell- but most average magic-users fly under his radar.
Inabilities: Flight- Despite wings, he cannot actually fly. From a great enough height, he can glide- but is not capable of actually flying. The bones in his body are still mostly human, making him too dense to fly on his own.
Talents(/non-magic): Learning - The first and foremost talent that Ikarus possesses, is his ability to learn. He has had to survive for most of his life on observation alone, and as such is an exceptionally quick study. Of course he'll still need practice, but with direct tutoring, he is attentive and resourceful. From languages to new skills, Ikarus has a natural and insatiable curiosity for things.
Herbalism - Trained in holistic medicine, Ikarus has a decent number of tricks up his sleeve. Little cures for stomachaches, headaches, and other general 'aches'- but also several that can strengthen one's immune system, increase dream lucidity, or improve mood. Technically he knows how to make poisons as well, but one would be hard-pressed to ever see him even consider something like that.
Gardner - It started as a simple hobby, spending his days keeping little window-box-type flowers alive, but soon grew into a fully fledged ability when he was once gifted a little plot of land and some seeds. Now it is often used as a kind of cathartic activity. Can't rush plants, after all.
Scribe - Due to his past, he had to become a decent scribe. His handwriting is flourished, but neat, and he generally writes in an overly formal tone. From this ability was also born his smooth reading, and while he may stutter in general conversation, he can recite from texts without error.
Baker - Currently he is learning this skill. After apprenticing for quite some time, and picking up recipes from several sources, Ikarus is now a rather adept baker and cook. He can hold his own in a kitchen, and is actually fairly decent. Still ignorant of some dishes, he's always open for learning.
