Bloodforce Abilities

Pure

∙ Soulsense ∙ Kali uses this mostly to search for new, fertilized eggs in her aviary. Although not an active ability, when a Zykla is using their Bloodforce, they can get "tastes" of the souls around them. This is not so focused as to sense memories or thoughts but does offer a greater sensitivity to the emotional state of another. This ability is beyond the physical body, and only one that has an understanding of the Bloodforce can hope to defend against it, let alone fool it. Coming with the practice of tasting and reading the souls and emotions of those around them gives the Zykla further insight into how to mask and hide their own. Understanding the emotional states of souls around them lends them to keep their emotions from wandering to the shallow surface where others might perceive the secrets of their souls that much easier. Able to better hide their feelings and emotional state better than a Zykla not as familiar and practiced in matters of the soul.

∙ Soul Soothing ∙ Kali uses this mostly to keep birds calm when taking or training birds. Zykla may be creatures of taboo practices, but they are not without hearts. With the craft of their Bloodforce, practiced Zykla will help ease the emotional pain of another in need with the help of Soul Soothing. A simple breath or a gentle cast of their wrist the ethereal tendrils of their Bloodforce can manifest a small cloud, veiling over to swathe their quarry. In turn, this provides an incredible boon to the other as a measure of safety, security, quieting their mind as amenity washes away whatever hardships they may have recently endured.The effects of Soul Soothing will determine the severity of the other's emotional state, lasting for a few hours on up to a week and repeated if needed for extreme cases.

∙ Soul Grip ∙ Kali generally employs this ability to keep untrained birds from flying away. Soulgrip is a form of telekinesis that allows the Zykla to expend harvested blood force to manipulate objects at a distance, as though they had extended their hand to reach it. This is often limited to simple grabs or pushes, as fine motor skills become more complicated at distances. The amount of Bloodforce spent is equal in proportion to the amount of weight being manipulated and for how long. A secondary form of Soulgrip is a form of levitation in which the Zykla call Tetherbreaking.

∙ Tether Breaking ∙ Kali uses this ability to help train birds she has raised, as well as to search nests in trees or on cliff-sides. Properly named, as this ability allows the Zykla to break their tether from the ground and levitate. Again, its cost varies depending on how high the Zykla goes and for how long they do so. Often ranging between a few inches to a couple of feet from the ground.

Passive

∙ Glitterdust ∙ Kali’s dust falls in sparkling tones of turquoise and soft gold. A side effect of using Bloodforce, trace elements of the wisp can remain caught in the Zykla's fur even after all available Bloodforce has been spent. They are often seen being cast away by shaking or other swift movements, but cannot be rubbed, combed, or washed out. The Glitterdust will fade on its own in time. Bloodforce is not an elemental ability. It does not draw power from the fire, air, water, and earth of the Physical world, and can only affect them when used upon them already existing. The Bloodforce manipulates the physical realm on a macro level, but cannot change the physical makeup of any object.

∙ Smoky Wisps ∙ Kali’s wisps manifest in soothing tones of turquoise, lilac, and teal. When the Bloodforce is utilized by a Zykla, a colored aura will emanate from the user's fingertips. Directly connected to the ability being used by the Zykla and will follow the manipulation as it carries out. It has been observed, that the Wisp can also spill from the mouth with exhales.

Echta Artistry

∙ Heated Touch ∙ After collecting a flame to manipulate, the casting Zykla can absorb the flame's heat into their palms, using it to heat their own body or provide warmth via contact with another. It has been known that Echta Zykla also use this ability to heat a chilled plate of food or warm a drink gone cold. [Duration: 30 minutes.]

∙ Fireball ∙ A single flame large enough to fit into the Echta Zykla's palm, it need not stay there though! The flame can be used to hover around the casting Zykla for as long as their bloodforce reserves hold out or until they extinguish the flame. The flame can then be used to light a fire or launched at a target so long as it is within the Zykla's line of sight. [Distance Length: 10 feet.]

∙ Firewall ∙ A circle of flames around the casting zykla with room for an additional body if needed. The flames do not wander, and rise high enough to ensure their protection covers the Zykla from head to foot. [Duration: 10 minutes.]

∙ Smolder ∙ Echta Zykla can manipulate a flame to their will, but they are able to extinguish them as well. Small flames that have gone astray can be rendered to ash with a flick of their wrist so long as the Zykla is within 5 feet of the flame. The extinguished flame's heat will then be transferred to the Echta Zykla to use as they see fit.

Biome Characteristics

Seasonal Pelt (Forest)
While their locale is temperate, Summer is still hot and Winter equally chilling. In lieu of an all-purpose coat that simply settles in between the heat and cold, Forest Zykla have adopted fur that transitions with the seasons. Thick, insulating fur grows during the months leading into winter, fluffing out their already coveted hides. With the onset of spring, the Zykla begin to shed small tufts of fluff on nearly every branch they pass eventually leading to them slimming back down into their sleek, Summer coat.
Kali does not shed like fullblooded forest Zykla, because of her desert lineage.

Earthy Camoflage (Forest)
In keeping with their environment, the Forested Zykla have slowly grown into adopting the colors of their surroundings. Soft Browns and greys are far more common with the occasional deep greens filtering in. The Earthy camouflage paired with their dark rosettes assists in breaking up their silhouette while on the move through the foliage and shadowed leaf litter.

Claws & Paws (Forest)
For the forested Zykla, The many trees that make up their home are not only a means of cover but also escape. While their powerful legs can carry them swiftly across the forest floor, widened paws and much larger claws help the Zykla in clinging to tree trunks and quickly scurrying away from harm. Thicker Dewclaws keep their climbing hooks healthy while a broad grasp ensures a stable grip on their way up. In some cases, Zykla have been seen leaping from one tree trunk to the next preferring a stable grip of the bark to the potential having a tree branch snap beneath them.
Kali also sports webbed paws, from her desert lineage.

Eyes (Desert)
Desert Zykla tend to have longer eyelashes to help prevent and keep the dry windy climates from entering their sensitive eyes. In addition to this, a third eyelid also helps prevent sand particles from damaging their vision.
While Kali has extremely long eyelashes, she does not sport the third eyelid.

Ears (Desert)
Ears are usually quite larger and wider than normal, but still hold true to the Zykla appearance. With the wider surface area in their ears, this helps to dissipate heat.
Kali also sports tufts of long white fur within the base of her ears, to help keep debris out.

Tail (Tundra)
Kali sports a very long and luxurious tail, Tundra in type, through her mother's side. Kali tends to brush her tail until the fur lays smooth, resulting in a sleek, fully look. The classification for her tail-type falls under the Tundra cast, despite her origins being rooted in Forest and Desert biomes. While she does have a protective undercoat, she does not tend to shed this, a product of her mixed heritage.

Kali's Desert lineage became more prominent after her Rebirth Ritual.
