• Story

  Tales have been spreading lately, of that of the Dread Pirate Queen. A woman who knows no equal. Who defeats every challenger who comes her way. Curvatious, beautiful, deadly. Her armada is currently turned towards the province of Wu.
  
  Yet, this could not be further from the truth. Qiashoi is a fiery youth. Forced into service by the death of her father during the Three Kingdoms Era, she holds a resentment for the current court of it. She has to remain silent as she serves the returning soldiers and passersby as a barmaid. In her free time, she escapes to the pond on the outskirts of the village. On it, she sits on a wooden raft she made herself. Pretending to herself that she was that Dread Pirate Queen. That she was anywhere but here, that she could do something!
  
  One day, one of the drunkards told the girl to tell them a story. Cries went up as they all waited. Qiashoi did not hesitate to begin spinning the tale of the Pirate Queen. Also, one who was quick with words, it captivated the audience. From there, it spread as stories do. Becoming grander in the process until it began to reach the ears of the court of Wu.
  
  Finally, Sun Quan knew something had to be done about this. He sent out his trusted advisor, Zhou Tai, who himself was formally a pirate, to go and investigate. He found that the girl only lived a couple days away from the court of Wu, it seemed word had not traveled that far. Upon seeing the girl on her raft, standing to shout a challenge to him, he realized that she was no threat. Wordlessly, he left, making his way back to the Wu court.
  
  However, that was not the end of it. As word of Zhou Tai's defeat began to find its way back to court. Running with his tail between his legs back to safety. Shocked, everyone in court turned towards him. Zhou Tai however, was a man of few words. And just stated again that she was no threat.
  
  It was at this point that Gan Ning spoke up and said he would go to deal with the issue. Once again, he made his way to the village, very surprised that the Pirate Queen would be so far inland, and found the girl on that pond. She recognized him. Gan Ning was a famous pirate who wore bells to warn him, enemies of his approach, so she shouted out her typical challenge. Empowered by all the warriors who had come recently to try and challenge her, each turning to leave. In her mind, this was a victory. Gan Ning turned to do the same until she shouted how the word would spread of how the famous pirate of the red sails ran like a coward.
  
  Losing his rage, Gan Ning waded through the pond, because it was only ever about three feet deep at the most, and cut apart the raft with his weapon. Qiaoshi looked at him shocked. "You can't do that!" She said as she began sinking in shock. Once that wore off, tears began to well up in her eyes. "MY BOAT!" She began sobbing. Gan Ning didn't know what to do at that point. Clearly, she wasn't a threat, but something had to be done. So he hoisted the girl over his shoulder and took her back to the Wu court.
  
  That entire trip was filled with shouts, punches, kicks as she demanded to know where she was being taken. However, Gan Ning kept the course and soon she was in front of the nobles in court. Being presented as the Pirate Queen. Everyone remained silent. Here she was, a 13-year-old peasant girl. She had tricked them all. People cringed when they thought about the resources that went into this.
  
  Sun Quan offered her a choice. Either hang for her crimes or follow what he said. Not wanting to die, she agreed to anything he said. And thus, she was married to Gan Ning, with the story that he had defeated the Pirate Queen, and rather than kill her, took her as his bride.
  
  From here, she is taught, and half raised by Gan Ning and his crew. To fight, to sail, the ways of war. Growing up through battle and hardships to become what she originally called herself. After Gan Ning's death. She took up his mantel as well. Taking his bells and red sails, in addition to her own mantle of Dread Pirate Queen. Serving under Wu until her death.
