• The story

  There was nothing dark or horrible about his upbringing, raised by a fairly well off family of a merchant father and seamstress mother - even being the middle child of many didn't put a sour taste in his mouth, his mother likely a model homemaker aswell as business woman. Perhaps the lack of misfortune and negligence in his early years made Berthold want for more? Maybe he was just ungrateful.
  
  By the time he reached his teens the wolf had gained a reputation for being a liar, a cheat, a womaniser and more. No matter how many times he got caught in the act, beaten or chased off the wolf never stopped his antics. His father condemed his actions, his mother scolded him and his siblings made it plainly known they thought he was a waste on their family's estate. Making it no suprise when he got caught with his father's own mistress that Berthold left home, cut off from any allowance but comfortable on a tidy sum to keep his silence.
  
  Free of any reprimands or frowning family members, what was left to do other than seek out his own ruin?
