  Mortimer is a neurological scientist, who formerly studied psychology and medicine to help treat mental disorders. However, something changed him, out of the blue. He'd started researching neuroscience in order to replicate a human brain artificially, and succeeded. However, his research was used for a much more sinister purpose.
  
  He was putting the artificial brains through nightmarish experiments, toying with 2 particular emotions- Fear, and rage. His specialization became neuroscience not long after, as madness dragged him further and further into a depraved state of mind, where he wanted nothing but subjects. Live, human subjects.
  
  He abandoned his work in favor of these horrific experiments, and murder is a kind word to explain what he did. He eviscerated his victims slowly, bleeding them dry before they were truly dead.
  
  In time, madness gave way to joy. He relished in his opportunities to kill, and begged for more blood to feed his inhuman craving for the agonized screams he wrought by blade and tool.
