• Personality

  Ailasiwa is, for the most part, a quiet, fun-loving coyote who usually serves as a mediator, or more so a person who hates to see conflicts that have gotten out of hand, whether it be a heated argument or full-on combat. Because of this, he comes off as a coward despite his efforts towards a compromise in these situations, and may even drop everything in favor of his own survival.
  
  Despite his fear of violence, at times, he'll gain enough courage to fight, especially when protective or extremely pissed. He has a very strong obligation to his homeland, albeit a bit less of an obligation to his own folk, being an outcast to his own vain and self-absorbed people. Despite this, he loves being with many different folk from different lands, trading ideas and telling stories from their own lands.
  
  Ailasiwa also loves to tell stories about many different subjects, from the reasons some mountains have flat tops to why canyons exist to why he was feeling groggy that morning. However, unlike most coyote-folk, he knows when to tell stories and when not to, just so people still take him seriously. Still, he can talk his way out of a sticky situation here and there, as he'd want to talk first and fight later to avoid conflict.
  
  Mostly, Ailasiwa has a happier outlook on life, wanting to be so joyful that it spreads to other people. Thus, he rarely shows his darker emotions, although sometimes he rarely shows any emotion other than a slight smile. He's soft-spoken and quiet, but aims to be motherly and cares for anyone who bothers to talk to him for more than just a moment of small-talk. However, this sometimes gets to him, being an outcast, and he tends to cling to his acquaintances and be overly-protective and jealous.

• Name Origin

  "Ailasiwa" is a name that was given to Ailasiwa because of his behavior as a child. Since he was a quiet and joyful child, many coyote-folk and other folk believe that the sly, trickster-like behavior generally associated with coyote-folk isn't within him, or, at the very least, doesn't show. Ailasiwa's folk therefore believe that this behavior was burned out of him at his birth, which happened to be as the sun was rising.
  
  His name, similar to most animal-folk from his homeland, loans from a small description: "He who was singed by dawn's spear". The name describes that the rays of the sunrise had reached Ailasiwa, "singeing" him as is true with all coyote-folk with their blackened tails and ashen fur and hair. This description is Ailasiwa's unique experience of gaining those traits, which many hold as the reason for his fun-loving and polite nature.

• Biography

  Ailasiwa was born in the greenest part of his desert homeland into an all-coyote village. He was orphaned as a pup, never getting to know his parents, and he ends up getting lost at times without anyone to really guide him, relying on trial-and-error for most anything during his childhood.
  
  Once he hit puberty, his folk named him and initiated him by fasting for a certain time, inducing hallucinations. With some help from his village, he would spend his time isolated near a small spring in front of an unlit fire pit, focusing and trying to call out to a helper spirit. After a couple of days, a spirit came to him in a vision, and Ailasiwa spent time communicating with it. It was nearly formless, a cloud of mist in the vision. After establishing a friendship with the spirit, a fire lit up in the pit, reached out, and marked his fur, giving him his unique, white-ashen body markings said to represent the helper spirit's acceptance and Ailasiwa's connection with the spirit.
  
  After his initiation, he was able to go outside his village, meeting with many other strange, new folk with excitement and curiosity. He started to mix different aspects of other lands he'd heard of, trading and making outfits and jewelry of mixed influence and even acting differently because of his exposure to different cultures. However, he was still pretty impressionable, and some folk started to take advantage of his curiosity. These experiences made Ailasiwa more quiet now, and more determined to emphasize his lighter side to other people, once he got to know them and trust them of course.
  
  Currently, he wanders around, taking in the scenery and different lands and visiting different villages whose villagers welcome him. He is much more motherly now, not wanting people to go without guidance and some form of that love like he did. He also recovered from his more traumatic experiences, however he does have an episode here and there, usually when he's alone so as to not bother anyone. He hunts for a living and sells his game to friendly villages while keeping some meat and sometimes fur for himself. Sometimes, he volunteers as a scout for different villages who are suspicious and afraid of raiders, silently spying and reporting to the villages and making extra off of it.

  During his first weeks of exploration outside of the village, many folk were wary about him as a coyote, and some even avoided him or expressed their distaste for his kind. Although Ailasiwa loved talking with others and learning about them, he became very afraid learning about how hated coyotes were to some. He received looks as if he was a criminal walking free.
  
  Panicking a bit, Ailasiwa meets a gray fox who offered to help him get used to other people and other villages. Immediately, Ailasiwa gratefully accepted his offer, and automatically thought of the fox as a friend. Slowly, however, the fox began to speak to Ailasiwa in a condescending way, even going so far as to subtly imply that Ailasiwa as a person was inferior, saying things like "Let me talk, you might get your nose dirty" and "You might be a bit too naive for that". The fox started to plant seeds in Ailasiwa's mind, instilling that Ailasiwa was clumsy, foolish, and even hyper-sexual and in need of constant supervision.
  
  After a few months of travelling and exploring together, despite feeling a bit unsure, Ailasiwa, while camping out near a river, confessed his attachment and growing affection for the fox. Ailasiwa thanked the fox for his help and said how kind he was accompanying a coyote like him. To the fox, that was a signal that Ailasiwa was starting to turn. His long con finally paying off, he decides to take the opportunity to capture Ailasiwa, shackling him. Despite confessing to the fox, Ailasiwa tried to resist, but the fox wrestled him into chains and pinned him. Partially for his own desires and partially to test Ailasiwa, the fox then started to have his way with Ailasiwa, who was helplessly struggling to free himself and make a run for it.
  
  The day after, Ailasiwa was broken, not knowing why last night happened and why the fox suddenly did what he did. To the fox, he was one of the easier ones to break as he leads Ailasiwa to a raider village. The fox was a slaver, selling unknowing, unfortunate folk as labor and sexual partners to other raiders. However, after days of attempting to sell Ailasiwa, there was no success. Even the raiders were skeptical about Ailasiwa, thinking him as a trickster and even saying within earshot he seemed like too much a burden and not worth buying. Half-excited, the fox decided to keep him for himself. Every time Ailasiwa spoke against him, he was punished and abused until he was conditioned to act more like a pet to the fox. When other people from places where Ailasiwa was well-acquainted saw Ailasiwa with the fox, they started to suspect something and asked Ailasiwa if he needed to be separated from the fox. However, Ailasiwa refused. He knew the fox for months now, and the fox helped him time after time. Over time, Ailasiwa became extremely attached to the fox.
  
  Finally, however, one person from a friendly village spoke out against the fox after scouts gathered evidence of his practices in slavery. As revenge for this and for the fox's other offenses, the fox was killed, and the raider village was attacked, the other slaves freed during the chaos. Ailasiwa, throughout the planning and before the battle, was used as a scout. However, to him, he was just going to his deceased master's home to gather his master's belongings. After returning and letting slip where he went and what he saw when the villagers asked in a friendly way, Ailasiwa watched as the raider village was ransacked. Despite being freed, he still had the fox's words in his mind. He was meant to be submissive, and looked at himself as only a partner and pet for others to use.
  
  It took a year for him to get to a more stable condition . . .
