welcome to Adlersbrunn, a cursed town home to the constant attacks from the nefarious dr. junkenstein and his horrific monster.
intelligent well beyond his years, dr. junkenstein would be described as your stereotypical madman of a scientist: determined to do whatever it takes to reach the end result. a wicked, crazed individual, junkenstein's specialty lies in the creation and execution of life-like automatons--robots that operated as fluently as humans do, while lacking the life and thoughts that human brains are capable of.
he served as the king's royal scientist, always attempting to impress him with his creations and inventions. he started out with electricity, minor things that helped the town, but as time went on his interest began to expand into other departments. he began to focus on automatrons, robotic entities that functioned perfectly nearly any job you could give them: defense, chores, other things. despite his unmatched intellect and his excelling skills in mechanics and his unprecedented inventions, jamison junkenstein suffered from the ridicule of both Adlersbrunn's king and its townsfolk.
eventually infuriated by the outcome, the continued ridicule, and the constant disrespect, junkenstein stormed off, fixated on the idea of earning the respect and extracting revenge from all of those that ridiculed him. this, he figured, was something only true life could do.
attempt after attempt after failed attempt, he came close to giving up his project completely. one last attempt from giving up, he was approached by a strange woman, who bestowed upon him the gift of life--in exchange for an untold favor.
although a man of science, his dedication to bring his creation to life lead him to instantly accepting the help, and soon, he shrilled the excitement of success when his creation rose from its bed, destroyed its shackles, and began wrecking havoc upon the town and its people.
consumed by hatred and anger, he allowed his creation to flee into the city, destroying everything and killing anyone in its path without so much as batting an eyelash. together, they burned, bombed, shocked, and killed all those that had once ridiculed and insulted the good doctor.
he fell along side his monster when the first four wanderers defended Adlersbrunn's gates from him, his monsters, and his partners' onslaught of attacks, but due to his unpaid debt with the witch, was quickly revived through the witch's power.
differences...?like his regularverse counter-part, junkenstein has an affinity for bombs of all kind; his rip-tire remains mostly the same, though it's charged with electricity as well now. the fluid in the canisters on his belt are filled with an electrifying substance that doubles over as an explosive, spreading lightning upon impact. one of the major differences between the two is that junkenstein's attacks are all charged with electricity on top of the regular explosion and blast impact. and like his regular counter-part, he's incredibly deranged and highly unpredictable; coupled with his hyped-up monster, he's quite a force to be reckoned with.
the main difference (and possibly the most dangerous), aside from his affinity towards electricity more than bombs, is that junkenstein actually has a brain; he's smart, he's intelligent, and while he is insane, his stupidity doesn't take over his mind as it does with his normal verse. lacking the severe level of junkrat's impatience and rashness, junkenstein is more capable of thinking things through rationally, if only by a little bit--and usually not making much of a difference. still, that sliver of intelligence is what really separates junkenstein from his regular verse, junkrat, in that he actually spends more than .0000001th of a second thinking about the outcome of a situation.
he's also cleaner.
some notes about this AU:
⚡ Because SOMEONE out there is going to ask....
⚡ He is a HUGE megalomaniac; like, huge. You don't know megalomania until you meet Junkenstein. However, he's also completely aware that his monster has the ability to kill him in a second.... which is exactly why he's not interested in forcing control out of him.
⚡ Upon gifting his monster with the gift of life, Junkenstein gave up a fraction of his soul, sharing it with the monster. This means that part of Junkenstein is very much within his monster, entwining the two in ways much deeper than cognitive and emotional ways. Since he struck a bargain with The Witch who is now considered to be the owner of his soul, this, by correlation, also means that his monster is partially owned by The Witch--though she shows no interest in him, and the monster has a much better bond with his creator, anyway.
⚡ In relation to his normal verse, Junkenstein is much, much easier to communicate, associate and possibly cooperate with; since his logical reasoning wasn't prematurely lost to prolonged exposure to radiation, he has the capability of being able to at least communicate and talk with others. This doesn't mean, by any means, that he's stable, though, easy to get along with, or any less evil; it just means he has the ability to process and think about things. He's also a little less annoying, and can sometimes even be defined as cute or innocent, but not a whole lot.
⚡ His monster is grafted from the skin, flesh, organs, so on and so forth, of various organisms. Junkenstein is capable of temporarily putting his monster out of commission in order to make changes, fixes, so on and so forth.
⚡ There is nothing in the world that Junkenstein has more pride for than his monster. Nothing. He is very proud of his creation.
⚡ His arm can transform into his grenade launcher.
⚡ He can cook.
⚡ He isn't a fan of angry mobs. Or mobs in general.
⚡ Every so often, Junkenstein and his monster seem to just completely go incognito, disappearing from the maps completely. Nobody but his companions, himself and his monster know why, but the King of Adlersbrunn appreciates these moments of rest.
and his monster...?
of all his creations, the most impressive is the creature he managed to construct himself and bring to life. a beast that he fondly refers to as simply 'his pretty' and to others as the terrifying 'junkenstein's monster', it is a terrifying creature with unmatched skill and inhuman strength with an endless thirst for killing and leaves little alive in its wake.
from its first breath, junkenstein's monster had decided it would be a slave to no one, not even its own creator. breaking free from the lab, the creature began to go on a rampage throughout the entire town--destroying buildings, killing people, terrifying villagers. junkenstein was unable to control his creation, but never once afterwards did he ever regret his decision, even as his creation rampaged through the city.
after all, they did deserve this. they all laughed, scorned, ridiculed him.. now it was time for them to pay.
despite his monstrous appearance, junkenstein's pride and love for his creation is unmatched, even if his creation refuses to be a servant to anyone. proudly admiring every little thing about his creation, junkenstein's giddyness for his existence is apparent and obvious; like that of a proud father. jamison junkenstein shows no signs of treating his creation like a servant, but rather as exactly what he is: a creation he breathed life into. they share something of a creator-and-creation bond, with junkenstein often talking him up affectionately and fixing him after rampage. his monster recognizes him as his creator, and when the beast isn't rampaging through town, trying to destroy things, or otherwise being destructive, he has been shown to be somewhat childish and a minimalist in understanding the world around him--junkenstein often takes the responsibility to try and teach him things. when things are 'neutral', it's something of a weird father and his monster son relationship. even frankenhog has taken to calling junkenstein daddy sometimes, a nickname that junkenstein himself has fondly taken.
outside of all this, all his crazy antics and his unstable state and hatred for the town, junkenstein isn't relatively normal, but for someone with a profession like his, it isn't entirely abnormal, either. he takes an abnormal amount of pride in his monster and his well-being, and openly gets offended at anyone who just refers to his monster as an 'it' and not 'he' or something more human. he strives to at least teach his monster what he can when he can, and there are the rare days he chooses to ignore his burning desire for revenge in favor of the much more passive activity of being with his creation.
in the vicinity of just him and his monster, he is... kind of a loser, actually. in a calmed state, unaffected by rage of others and mad desire, he is a curious individual, as scientists are, innotive and very inventive. he's a curious individual, a bit easy to excite and easy to anger, but when it comes to the sciences, he's willing to do whatever it takes to reach a conclusion or learn as much as possible. he enjoys cooking and building things, and his monster has become a favorite subject of research, developing, and teaching, but to put it frank, he is a bit of a loser, kind of a nerd, way too prideful of himself, and extremely egotistical. he has a strict thought pattern that believes his intelligence is far above that of everyone else's (and he is not wrong, let's face it), which sometimes leads him into a very megalomaniac thought process.
however, this doesn't excuse him from the daily drags and trawls of life.
