Norse Mythology

• Yggdrasil The World Tree

  An immense mythical tree that connects the nine worlds togheter and creatres bridges to them with its roots. Yggdrasil is a ash tree in the center of the cosmos and considered very holy. The gods themselfs will go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble at their things. Its brances extends far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by 3 roots that extend far away into other locations. The roots reaches and drink the waters of the homeworlds, one in the homeworld of the gods, Asgard, one in the homeworld of the humans, Midgard, and one in the homeworld of the dead, Helheim. Beneath the root in the world of the frost giants is the spring of Mímir, whose waters contain wisdom and understanding. Mimir was known as "the remember" or "the wise one" and was known to know as good as anything within all the realms. The root in the Asgard taps the sacred wellspring of fate, the Well of Urðr. The tree is tended by the Norns, who live near it. Each day, they water it with pure water and cover it with clay from the spring to preserve it. The water falls down to the earth as dew.
  
  Animals continually feed on the tree, threatening it, but its vitality is to great as it heals and nourishes the vibrant nature of life around it. On the highest branch of the tree sits an eagle. The flapping of its wings creates the winds in the world of men. At the root of the tree lies a great dragon, Niðhǫggr, chewing on it continuously, together with other unnamed serpents. The squirrel Ratatoskr carries insults from one to the other. There is also 4 stags called Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór.

• The Realms

  Also known as the Nine Worlds or "homeworlds". With heim meaning realm or "home" to be more precis.
  
  Asgard: the home of the Aesir and ruled by the god Odin. Valhalla, also known as the paradise of the worthy warrior that had fallen in combat can be found in Asgard. Where they can drink and enjoy life among the gods for all enternity.
  
  Alfheim: the home of the Light Elves or "Ljósálfar"
  
  Svartalfheim: the home of the Dwarves, who are also synonymous with the Dark Elves "Dökkálfar" and Black Elves "Svartálfar"
  
  Midgard (Earth): the home of humans
  
  Jotunheim: the home of the Jötnar (Giants)
  
  Vanaheim: the home of the Vanir
  
  Niflheim: a world of ice and snow
  
  Muspelheim: The fire realm, home of the first and orginial fire giant called Surtr. Creator of a legendary fire sword, which he fought Odin and Thor with in Ragnarok.
  
  Helheim: Also known as the realm of the dead or Hell of the unworthy of Valhalla. In other words the permanent home of the dishonorable dead. Such as the ones who died by age or diese, or just cowardly.

• Jörmungandr The World Serpent

  Is known to be so unbelieveablely large that it can surround all of Midgard and bite its own tail.

• The Gods

  Odin: The "Alfather" and god of the gods. Which he prounced himself as after slaying the very creator of them all, the giant Ymir.
  
  Loki: Also known as the trickster amongst them with the ability to shape shift. Loki is the father of Hel, the wolf Fenrir, and the world serpent Jörmungandr. With his wife Sigyn, Loki is the father of Narfi and/or Nari. With the stallion Svaðilfari, Loki is the mother, giving birth in the form of a mare, to the eight-legged horse Sleipnir.
  
  Thor: Son of Odin and the god of thunder. Weilder and the only one of Mjölnir
  
  Freya: The godess of love, sex, beauty and fertilty, among others.
  
  Frey: God of kingship, prosperity and fertility.
  
  Baldr: One of the many sons of Odin and Frigg, and also brother to Thor and Vali.
  
  Frigg: The godess of wisedom and wife to Odin.

• Various Myths:

  Ymir: The giant that everything sprung from. Such as the first man and woman from his armpits, the gods from his flesh, the ocean from his blood, the mountains from his bones, the trees from his hair, the clouds from his brains, the heavens from his skull and the middle realm known as Midgard from his eyebrows. And lets not forget the dwarfs from his blood and flesh (the earth and sea). However this only happend after Odin slayed him.
  
  Surtr: the brave, also known as the fire giant from Muspelheim that forged the sun with his flame.
  
  Fenrir: A monsterous wolf.
  
  Sleipnir: An eight legged horse, ridden by Odin
  
  Bifrost: is a burning rainbow bridge that reaches between Midgard (Earth) and Asgard, the realm of the gods.
  
  Ragnarök: Its the end of the world, which only happens whenever the giant wolfs of the sky, Sköll and Hati finally catches the sun and moon that they have been chasing since the begining of time.
