He'd like to think he had a great childhood. I mean it was an understandably unique experience. Sure some kids have similar upbringings with homes that have a business on the 1st floor and the living area on the 2nd floor, but not many parents would willingly have that business be distributing alcohol to all the cheap, sketchy ass people in town. Safe to say little Delly was quite the punk, it's hard to believe that rambunctious scamp turned into the semi-normal 24 yr old he is today. He had some fun back then. Technically, kids weren't supposed to come down at night, but in his defense it was rather hard to sleep when the floor below you boomed with drunk tension. Drunken arguing was not something anyone wanted to fall asleep too. Naturally, Delly would just try and take a peek. Sneaking down the stairs to get a glance at what the family business looked like what it was booming. It didn't take very long for some of the customers to take notice. Delly blamed his hair - which was much lighter and noticeable at the time. He'd be whisked away by one parent or the other (usually his mother), and scolded before being promptly shut away in his room once more. Fortunately, the older he got the more lenient ol' Ma and Pa got. At age 10, Delly spent his nights chatting it up with the customers, absolutely loving the attention he got from the intoxicated females (They couldn't resist that adorable little face), gathering 'useful' advice and skills ("Eh, kid. Come ere' Imma teach ya the art e' shotgunnin") but his favorite part was simply watching all these adults acting like idiots. Alcohol was a funny thing.
He'd been alone for the first 10 years of his life, it was just him and his parents but a couple of days after his 10th birthday he was informed there was going to be a new addition to the family. It was too early to tell whether the baby would be a girl or a boy. Delly wanted a brother. His mother wanted it to be a surprise. 12 months later she went into labor and gave birth to Delly's new sister Rosalind in the back of the family's blue buggy. She'd gone to pick Delly up from school (An inner-city elementary school she insisted on picking him up from, ranting about how unsafe the streets were. No one was walking home on her watch) and the only reason for this was because his father - a man who was a victim of his own commerce - had been day drinking. Wasn't fit to drive. Halfway to the school she went into labor, water broke. She picked up the kid, and halfway to the hospital the pain made his mother pull off onto the side of the road. She couldn't drive, her vision was blurry and screams just emitted from the buggy as Delly scrambled to find her phone. Dad didn't pick up. Who else was he supposed to call? For a panicked, 11 yr old kid he couldn't necessarily find anyway to assist his birthing mother. Blood stained her dress and the front seat of the car. It was a sight the young boy would never ever forget. He was frozen and confused with the situation, but luckily a few strangers managed to pick up on the bloodcurdling cries. Some called ambulances, others tried to help her out of the car and onto the sidewalk all the while the little red-haired boy sat uselessly clutching his backpack with moon-like eyes. He allowed his hand to be crushed by her while others tried to flag down taxis, or any useful form of transportation, but by now it was pretty useless. The cry of a newborn baby could be heard from the back of the buggy. The chord was cut, Rosalind held up for all to see...but this was all followed by his mother jolting violently as her eyes rolled back into her skull. She died of a seizure, eclampsia.
There was mourning, Delly's father falling into an even deeper and unescapable pit of alcoholism, as most of these stories go. Eventually when Rosalind graduated to her toddler phase, it became evident that she wasn't her father's daughter. Different hair color, different eyes, different facial features, on top of it all it seemed like Delly's mother had been having an affair. Now there's a story for ya.
Delly made sure his midnight bar-adventures didn't stop there. With great power comes...well an illegal income. Middleschool and into Highschool was full of raging, experimenting teenagers that would pay wads of cash for just a taste of alcohol - a scotch, a whiskey, a beer, they didn't fucking care. As long as Delly could get his hands on it. He had become the default go to for those without fake ID's, and the money was rolling in. The transactions would always happen at night, usually in nearby parking lots or alley ways - it was sketchy as hell and to be honest Delly wasn't a big fan, he was only in it for the money. His father was pretty out of it, and Delly was pretty sure he would've gotten a beating if he requested money. He didn't bother testing this theory. Things were going great, he was popular as hell, everyone loved him, he had even snatched his first girlfriend during this time. Fortunately, the shit hit the fan and his suspicious ("Where the hell did you get that kinda money, boy?") father finally caught him the act of setting up a ladder-like assortment of stools and buckets so that he could reach the top shelf - an attempt to fulfill one of his friend's alcohol request. A bottle of scotch.
At first Delly had been distant to Rosalind, not a big fan of all that had happened thanks to her, although he eventually took her 'under his wing'. The grief he got over quickly, as a child he still wasn't too clear on what had happened, and with time it faded even more so. They became close, Delly drove her to school and deemed her with the original title of 'Ro' or even 'Rosie'. He had a lot of free time now, Delly's father refused to pay for college in efforts to keep him here and man the bar (A success on his part) and so after graduation he just worked. That's when he first picked up his new trademarked hobby of boxing.
Rosalind had just turned 13 (Delly 24) when their father was arrested with the account of murder. Under the influence once again, he thought he had found the man who had slept with his wife. Rosalind's biological father. It was instinct for him to kill, after all it was his fault that she wasn't here anymore right? Delly was told it was disturbingly bloody, and pushed no further info, and his father was sentenced with 25 years in prison, 2nd degree murder. Like that Delly and Rosalind were on their own, Delly was the next 'heir' of the business and so he just...took over. He'd saved up enough to start occasionally taking a class or two at the community college nearby, it wasn't much but it was something.
Delly spends his days getting up really early, doing unfinished homework, smoking on the roof, teasing his sister, letting his sister cook for him, driving his sister to school, boxing (gym), going to class, working the bar, driving around in sunglasses with his blue buggy, exploring the city, and hanging out with the boys (only on Saturdays, of course. Please don't kill me that was a good joke).

Delly often speaks of his little sister, her role in his life is too big to skim over. He stands as her role model, parental figure, older sibling, etc. Either way, he's the one fucking taking care of her. Driving her everywhere. Paying for all her shit. Giving her chores. Making her cook for him. You know, all the usual stuff. They're obviously tightly knit, closer than most siblings it seems.
She's actually taller than him, 5'6 to be exact. He endures the short jokes, and in return he gets to remind her of how she was the product of their mother's affairs. She usually quiets down after that. Other than that her appearance is like any other white chick you see around, bleached hair that always seems too curled, straightened, or simply pulled up. Her eyes are more orange than anything, and she stands with a leaner structure than he. Many don't believe them when they say they're related, none of their features seem to match up. Well, everything but the smile. Both have the characteristic-ly unique smile of their mother. A monkey smile that takes up most of their faces, crinkling noses and exposing dimples on both cheeks.
Delly never really figured out the art of cooking, and so it was up to her. Rosalind quickly picked up the art and grew fond, the parental roles switching momentarily when it became dinner time. She'd promised not to poison him. Rosalind fulfilled her other hobbies at school, she'd taken all the photography classes she could in middle school, graduating to a more advanced level in high-school. Rosalind has actually submitted a few pieces to local art fairs, earning a single blue ribbon throughout it all. Ironically enough, her model is usually Delly or the bar itself. She's an actor, auditioning for theater productions and most of the time she got in. She hasn't gotten any leads yet, just supporting roles for now. Other than that, Rosalind tends to fuck with her older brother. Hiding his stuff, serving him weird shit for dinner, you know. All the fun sibling stuff kids do.
