Personality: Amara is both desperate for friends and affection and absolutely terrified of getting close to anyone. This can make her seem rather two faced or indecisive at times. One moment she may laugh and smile and joke and the next moment become taciturn and uncertain.

Mannerisms: Tugging on or fidgeting with her veil, Braiding and unbraiding the long strands of hair that fall over her shoulders and across her cheeks, Hunching down unconsciously in an effort to look shorter than she is, Getting defensive at the smallest slight to her character or appearance

Amaranthine tends to wear loose, delicate robes over her more hearty traveling gear in the hopes of appearing more cultured and feminine that she often feels. She generally prefers lighter pinks, lavenders and blues and has even managed to collect a few bits of jewelry through the course of her travels, a simple gold chain necklace and a gold ring with the smallest of rubies set in the shape of a rose. While her boots are eternally dusty, she keeps her appearance as clean and presentable as possible unless circumstances dictate otherwise. And always, always she wears that thin opaque veil over her nose, mouth and chin. She's collected a few over the years to match whatever outfit she might be wearing at the time, but the presence of the veil is the common denominator in her general appearance.

Strengths

Physical Strength - Amara is ridiculously strong even for someone of equal height and definitely for her slender elven build. She's been known to lift the load of three full grown men all on her own, though she usually prefers not to show off or draw too much attention to this ability, knowing how it sets her apart from her peers.

Wilderness Survival - Amara has been a wanderer most of her life, traveling from town to town seeking a purpose and a place she can feel truly accepted and understood. This has involved more than the average number of nights sleeping under the stars and scavenging for her next meal. She's learned which berries and mushrooms to avoid and which are edible, how to tell true north without a compass and how to build a fire with only the barest of necessities.

Physical Endurance - Once again her wandering lifestyle shines through here. Though she is not particularly quick or agile, Amara is capable of taking a great deal of punishment without flinching or going down. She has weathered storms and floods, climbed the tallest trees until her arms felt as if they must fall off yet still she persevered. She has walked for countless miles before finally given into fatigue.

Languages - Despite her very obvious speech impediment, Amara actually speaks and understands several languages fluently. Elven (and just about every unique dialect except for some of the more esoteric such as dark elf), the human Common as well as the rather harsh tongue of the Northmen and the much smoother language of the Desert Dwellers, and even Orcish. She also has at least a passing understanding of Dwarven though she struggles to get her mouth to pronounce some of their more vital vowels.

Struggles

Magic - Amara's elven magic is quite powerful. Unfortunately it is also quite wild and completely untrained. While it has been known to flare up in her defense occasionally, more often than not it tends to lay quietly dormant and sometimes even actively work against her. Given time and training it is possible that she might be capable of becoming a powerful sorceress, but as it stands she's just as likely to turn a daisy into a frog as she is to actually do what she means to do with it. The only part of her magic that she herself has actively practiced and trained in is the blocking of telepathic and psychic attacks. At this she is particularly adept for her own private reasons.

Sense of Smell - While some may consider this ability a boon, Amara has found it to be a double edged sword. Her heightened sense of smell allows her to identify things more easily, such as poison, blood, feces or food, but at the same time it can cause her to be easily overwhelmed by unpleasant odors that might only bother other people. Skunks are a particular bane of hers, as is pipe smoke. This is another of her abilities that she tends not to bring up for fear it will be yet another mark towards her 'otherness.'

Weaknesses

Social Graces - Amara is extremely limited in this respect due to many circumstances. The biggest is her personal choice to avoid socialization in general but this tends to stem from her extremely noticeable and not at all attractive lisp. While she is a kind and considerate soul for the most part, making friends is extremely difficult for her due to embarrassment which has led to a lack of practice which has led to further embarrassment. Ultimately it is a vicious cycle from which she sees no real way to break free.

Unruly Temper - Amara's temper is not perhaps the worst the world has ever seen, but it has gotten her into more than a few unnecessarily unpleasant situations in her lifetime. In general it tends to flare up in response to people calling her out for her oddities, specifically her lisp, her strength or her veil. It can also spark extremely easily when she notices other people being bullied and she has been known to do more damage than she meant to or should have in the name of protecting those who might not have the will or ability to defend themselves. Though she's managed not to kill anyone when in a fit of rage, she's come close more times than she likes to admit even to herself.
