Al'Athon

Background

• Al’Athon of Tír na nÓg (Land of the Young), as he is called by those who know him was an ordinary mage elf of the forest before he was chosen to be the protector of the souls of the afterlife. During his childhood, Al’Athon was a child of the Arlanon clan chosen to be its keeper due to him being the strongest of three children born with the ability to perform magic. Displaying throughout his teenage years, time and time again that he was the most mature as well as the strongest mage of his clan, Al’Athon’s future reign was never in doubt. However, when Al’Athon was a mere seventeen years of age, the clan’s keeper whose place he was to take had fallen ill, Al’Athon had went on a journey of meditation to contemplate whether or not he was ready to become the clan’s keeper. During this journey, he had found a Deamhan chasing a hunter of his clan. Without a second thought, Al’Athon reached out his hand and casted a spell which he had never learned before at the Deamhan, causing it to stop in its tracks and become stone. With the hunter who he saved as his witness, they returned to the clan to report to the keeper. The keeper informed Al’Athon that he was the first mortal to ever slay a demon and sent him off to the humans to refine his magic while the runner-up mage would take his place as keeper. He followed his orders with no hesitation.
  
  He lived out his life enduring racism from the humans while still keeping them safe from the Deamhan threat. He did this with no resentment towards the humans because, in return, human mages taught him how to cast spells of different varieties than he ever knew about. During his lifetime Al’Athon was regarded with high esteem as the only mortal to ever slay a Daemhan, but this was met with skepticism by the humans until the battle of Eldur where Al’Athon sacrificed his life fending off an army of Deamhans led by a cult of dark mages.
  
  Leaving the realm of the living at only twenty-five, Al’Athon was given the role of protector for the afterlife known as Tír na nÓg. Seated at the right hand of the elven goddess, Felathin, he had protected the land for near a millenia from those who would seek to invade it, like mages who sought eternal life, Deamhans seeking to terrorise the souls of the departed and necromancers seeking to force fallen souls back into the world of the living. During the final two centuries, Al’Athon had noticed that there had been no disturbances to the world and requested that he go down once more to the world of the living to act as a guardian angel to elvenkind. His request was permitted and, so, he ventured once more, acting as an invisible guardian for all of his kind whenever he saw them threatened by each other, Deamhans, humans or anything else that might seek to harm his people.
