Sabir Heyeck

One could say that Sabir Heyeck was always a man known for making promises but never really following up on them. At times because he was way in over his head and sometimes because doing his part of the deal didn't benefit him enough, but everyone who knew him could agree on the fact that he was nothign short of an opportunist. I mean heck, if you were given 5 dollars and had to give your pet goldfish in return, why would you not keep both instead? That was the dude you called Sabir; a funny little prick who knew the best smut around town but who you would never turn your back to, unless you really were begging someone to empty your backpack.

He was going to have a below average life by all merits or the lack of such thereof, probably making most of his livelihood by fixing thrashed cars and stealing lunch money from kids. That, however, remained as a stupid daydream of an inexperienced young man when his somewhat significant other, Lizzie, came into the scene - and using the biggest, most pain-inducing syringe she injected his junkyard of a life full of entirely new responsibilities. Responsibilities that his own parents had never cared to teach the rascal who was already deemed as a menace to society from a very young age.

The biggest difference between them was probably the fact that Sabir had never heard of school beyond the kids that he could swindle. As such he was more than happy to lay on the sofa seven days a week, relentlessly whacking video games in his undies while she was out there attempting to get an office job with whatever diplomas she had gained during a more promising time. Truth be told, if they got the chance to travel all those years back in time and never meet each other at that motel during that fateful rainy day, they'd probably take it. Especially her.

However it might have been, their financial situation soon began to look rather bad as one might wager; "You are now walking on ice so fucking thin that I could shatter it with a sneeze." as their lessor had put it. To quadruple the magnitude of the predicament, his somewhat significant other was not only having issues with getting a stable job, but she was also decently far into her pregnancy - the circumstance that had, in part, given birth to this model relationship in the first place.

At first Sabir made a battle plan to shoot down the stork that would deliver the baby through their window, but the amount of humor in their situation was so minute that he was eventually forced to do the one thing he had always feared the most:

He was going to get a job.

Conveniently enough he was, to everyone's bafflement, offered a place almost right right out of the gate. His new employer would be the largest corporation of the city sector, the infamously kitty themed "Northern Light Industries", or just "Northern Light" for short. The job title suited him well enough too since it required no previous work experience nor school statistics, only physical fitness being taken into account.

Now, this was indeed something shady enough to make any life respecting person bail but not him, and he shook hands with the men in feline masks with a stupid smile on his face. Everyone not directly associated with Northern Light garnered suspicions that it actually had to do with his unbelievable track record that proved his capability to start irreversible problems, but it was all left as suspicion since nobody really heard anything about his job after that first day. All the general public knew was that he would come home most nights, sometimes beaten to a pulp, sometimes with papers that he had to sign, but always with a dead expression. He was holding a decent paycheck in his hands though, and that was all that mattered in the end... at least for a year or two. You see, no matter how tough stuff and hot shit he made himself to be, working for Northern Light was destined to take a heavy toll on his physical as well as mental well-being.

Sabir was reluctant to speak about his new line of work and never accepted anyone's help when offered, even Lizzie's. He would have quit that kind of job the first day if it had been up to him, but whatever it was, he was really damn good at it - like something hidden deep within him had finally been unleashed and there was no stopping it now. As time went on Sabir grew ever more distant, barely paying his sLizzie and his young daughter any mind besides a passing glance during his ever fewer visits home. Eventually, most people only remembered his facial features through his old social media galleries, the neon skull on his Northern Light-issue Tapioma helmet's forehead having become his new face, its dark eyes utterly indifferent towards everything.

He asked help from nobody and didn't really help anybody either, so the only respite he found was chemical in nature and at least as bad for his health as his job. His now not-so significant other didn't take too kindly to this, what with the household having a young child who was constantly watching his dad acting all kinds of silly.

In her own sanity and an epiphany of self-preservation instinct she finally decided to leave the man in his misery, clutching the thought that if nobody else could help him, he could as well help himself. One beautiful day she finally packed her things, clothed the youngster and bailed, hoping that he'd have to at least pay child support until she could manage a new job to herself. But alas, you don't simply try to take money from a Northern Light agent and the corporation has been rigging the court case ever since. They now live their lives on minimum wage as Sabir does what he does, regularly sword fighting on top of monorails, shooting at others, getting shot at by others, being launched up to the stratosphere, fired out of airlocks... all the while getting lasered, electrocuted, sliced, microwaved, gassed, crushed, torched...

... Life goes on, and all that. For the few years he has left at least.

I swear, we forgot! Anyways, I would have understood if he gave us a notice or something, but he didn't have to dangle my daughter from the 51st floor balcony to get the point across! Fire him!"
