Personality: At first glance, Chanda doesn't appear to be your average course and scrounging demon. With a soft voice and an air of gentlemanly refinement, the King of the Crossroads lures his prey in with meaningless assurances and promises he has no intention of keeping. The charming smiles and soothing voice are simply a cover, however, for the ruthless hell beast simmering just beneath the surface. Chanda makes an effort to control his temper when he can, knowing the old saying you catch more flies with honey than vinegar to be true (though of course a more accurate saying would be that you catch the most flies with bullshit, which is what Chanda excels at). Still, even he has buttons that can be pressed and points of no return past which self control is impossible. The quickest way to get him to lose his cool is to try ordering him around or acting as if you consider yourself superior to him. Puncturing his over inflated vanity is another easy way to incite his wrath. Even a simple no, in the right context, can crack the porcelain of his facade. At the end of the day the only things that Chanda is truly concerned with are his own comfort and amusement. Everything else is strictly a means to those goals.

Vanity, thy name is Chanda Rao. Ever obsessed with his appearance and looking his best, Chanda spares no expense when it comes to clothing, even if the price isn't always money. He has several closets full of perfectly tailored suits that he has collected over the many long years he has been alive and he will no doubt go on adding to it as time rolls inexorably on. Each suit is accented with an appropriate set of tasteful, never gaudy jewelry that includes (but is not limited to) cuff links, tie clips, a few carefully chosen rings and perhaps even a necklace or earring if he is feeling particularly roguish. This hell spawn will never be caught dead or alive in a hat, however. His luscious deep brown locks are his pride and joy, thus he always carries a small comb and mirror in his back pocket. Just in case of emergencies.

As a cross roads demon, most of Chanda's strongest abilities are directly linked to his contract (ritual) magic. Of course he possesses several basic demonic abilities as well. The hell fire that runs through his veins can be channeled to damage opponents or for more practical applications such as melting locks or lighting fires. He is capable of shape shifting into a large obsidian raven at will, an ability he uses to spy on clients and potential clients alike or simply as a better transportation option than the tube at rush hour. Super human strength and durability are simply par for the course with his kind, though he has also honed his body for intense speed and can physically overpower some creatures that should technically be stronger than him through sheer alacrity.

Once a contract has been signed, that is when Chanda's true power shines. Wish fulfillment is a magically intensive occupation and the abilities required to see it through are immense. In the line of duty Chanda can do many strange and terrible things such as stop time, implant a thought or memory in a person or group of people or even shift the laws of probability. Under the right circumstances he can transmute dross into just about anything the heart may desire from a pile of currency to a beautiful woman (though no sentient creatures he creates are capable of possessing a soul of their own). Even his more mundane demonic abilities become more powerful while an unfulfilled contract is still in effect and as such Chanda works hard to be sure he is never without work. Of course, all of these excessively overpowered abilities are only supposed to be used in the furtherance of the wish. The mark of a truly powerful crossroads demon is how he finds ways around that particular limitation and Chanda is the King of the Crossroads.



There is one ability Chanda possesses that is rare among angels and demons alike. As a soul that has gazed directly upon the Great Wheel and observed its innermost workings, Chanda is able to see the karmic aura surrounding any soul he meets. He cannot see details as to how they arrived at their place upon the Wheel, but he can tell, if they died in the next few minutes, where their karmic journey would take them. Though this ability doesn't have very many practical applications, he does take a rather perverse thrill in tempting and twisting those who might otherwise move on towards Nirvana.
