  • Overview

    Atlus is a pure neutral Demon (Nephilim) reborn from a human to kill those who are marked. These can be anyone of good, neutral, or evil alignment. The purpose of this is to restore a cosmic balance of life and death. For example, a priestess curing people who were meant to die could become a mark just as easily as someone who is a serial killer.

    As a Shadow, he cannot approach anyone directly (except for The Marked One) until he is seen by them. He tends to stalk people when he is trying to gather information, waiting to be seen from the corner of their eye. This means that he cannot automatically be seen or heard by anyone who hasn't acknowledged him. It would appear strange to others as they would seem to be talking to themselves when engaging him (until they also have seen him.)

    When he is seen once, he becomes easier to see. People tend to look to the shadows when they know that things actual can appear from them.

    He is currently working on his ability to make himself seen to others, mask his Void scent, and phase with small objects.

    Note: He doesn't mind being spotted through genuine roleplay. However, if you prefer to roll to see him, see below. You must roll the number indicated or higher to automatically see him. THIS IS MANDATORY if you choose to simply let the powers of your character see him. If you roleplay your character to automatically see him without making a role because you are "just so powerful", he reserves the right to ignore your post. (Things like this are really irritating and are referred to as God Mode.)

  • Abilities & Limitations

    Abilities
    • He cannot be 'killed' in the normal sense. When he is destroyed, he is sent back to the Void to recover, which takes time. While injured and recovering in the Void, he can only walk in this reality as a true shadow that appears and only remains on the walls. He cannot interact or respond to anything or anyone, nor can he hear speech into the In Between, but he is able to see events that happen.
    • While injured, through intense focus he can displace to remove arrows or blades from his body. As this is a more intense form of displacement this cause disorientation (similar to vertigo) or nausea to those who see it.
    • He is able to displace himself in battle, making it more difficult to strike him and dodge his strikes. When he displaces in this manner, it is not disorienting nor causes nausea to those who see it; he more appears like a moving cloud of black mist when displacing in combat.
    • Although he breathes, it is not necessary. There are no lungs to fill or bloodstream to poison as he is only Void. It is a residual memory from The Time Before that causes Shadows to breathe. Any attack that he needs to breathe in, or any attack that prevents him from breathing produces no effect.
    • Poison is useless against him.
    • He can only be Ended by the attacks from a Lightbringer.
    • He has no aura and cannot be sensed by the means of sensing auras.
    [*]He moves with the hand of fate, meaning that so long as he is doing Their bidding, there will always be some way that he can walk in the open during the day (i.e. chance cloud cover, wind blowing the leaves on a tree to prevent sunlight from reaching him.) This can also be extended into having a supernaturally increased amount of luck. They can take this ability away as punishment, letting him be burned by the light.

    Limitations / Weaknesses
    • He is only able to displace himself up to five feet at most in a combat situation. Out of combat he can displace himself hundreds of feet at most.
    • He still feels pain from regular blows, weapons, and other attacks.
    • He can still be cut and can temporarily lose limbs if the attack is severe enough.
    • He can become completely incapacitated by pain.
    • Sunlight causes the plane on which he exists to warp so strongly that if he walks into direct sunlight the part of him moving into the sunlight becomes instantly charred and embered. This is very painful and immediately incapacitates him.
    • Demons with powers that cause supernatural manipulations to the senses (i.e. a Succubus's scent, demons able to remain invisible to him) cause him to essentially freak out.
    • They do not permit him to use weapons or armour in battle. He can only use natural attacks.
    • His natural strength, speed, etc. is twice that of a regular 'cat person', though this is still far below those of typical Angels or Demons. He relies on prowess and his ability to remain unseen, which causes him to be weaker in this area.
    • His scent travels through his overlapping reality into this one. This means that he can very easily give away his presence to others if he moves too close. There will be an immediate cancellation of all scents to the nose.
    • While holding LARGE corporeal objects in his hand or upon his body (i.e. the object is no longer pinned by the force of gravity) he loses all of his Shadow abilities, including his ability to remain invisible.
