• Bio

  Growing up, Jimmy’s childhood was good. By no means was it idyllic, but it was good. He had the privilege of growing up in an old farm house with an adorable dog, and acres of land to run around on and explore. And better than all of that were his two parents who loved and cared for him. Spending time with them individually was great – he loved to cook and go on walks with his mom, spend days out and about shopping and going to the ice cream store and taking long drives through the country. Days with his dad involved hiking, camping, and ‘hunting’ which was mostly just his dad wandering around with a gun, allowing Jimmy to scare anything away that could have been brought home for dinner. They were both wonderful to be around. When they were apart. Together? It was one step above nightmare. From as young as Jim could remember, his parents argued. He could remember being four and five, sitting in the living room while they screamed and yelled about God knows what. That was the norm when the two of them were together.
  
  As Jimmy grew older, the arguing got worse, and more constant. Luckily Jimmy was a kid who could keep himself busy with toys and crafts and television shows, which is what he had to do, since they were spending less time with him and more time arguing with each other. Eventually, around his ninth birthday, the two finally agreed to get a divorce, which was a relief, even if no one dared admit it. This divorce wasn’t a clean cut, though. Jimmy’s mom fought tooth and nail for just about everything, and that’s what she got – the house, the car, and even the dog. His dad? Well… He got Jim. So, Jimmy and his dad found a new home in an apartment complex. As the years went on, his dad continued to get more and more bitter, and often let the frustrations out on Jimmy – not physically, but verbally. He would constantly be told what a horrible person his mother had been, and that she had only been with him to get the house and what money he had, and that that was what he got for marrying someone fifteen years younger than him. Of course, he didn’t tell his mother any of this when she visited. For about two or three years, his mother came to visit, and they had nice days together. She would do this almost every weekend. But then it became every other weekend. And then every month, until finally, she just never showed up anymore. Feeling betrayed once again, his dad did some digging, and apparently, she’d sold the old house, packed up the car and moved away without telling anyone where she was headed. Jimmy’s dad took a hit with this realization, and it made him all the angrier.
  
  By high school, Jimmy had gotten used to his dad’s upset mutterings and angry calls. The old man had taken up drinking to try to soothe the pain of losing pretty much everything, so luckily people down at the local bar were there to be his new ear, rather than just Jimmy himself. Living with a drunk father wasn’t ideal, but it was nice to come home to a quiet apartment – pops was either passed out or out of the house. Which left Jimmy to do his homework in peace.
  
  At school Jim wasn’t exactly the popular type. He was quiet and tried as often as he could to take a backseat to everything. This often singled him out as the weird or creepy type, but that didn’t bother him. He had a few friends at school, and they were what mattered.
  
  During his Junior year of high school, to Jimmy’s surprise, one of the cutest girls in school asked him out to the dance. He was standoffish at first, but reluctantly agreed. He had to admit, he’d be a fool not to – who wouldn’t want to go out with her?? But, going out with her was exactly what Jimmy needed to realize that he’d ended up harboring everything his father had said about his mom, and it had left a lasting impression. He had a hard time trusting his date turned girlfriend, and women in general. At first, he didn’t realize he was doing things that could cause harm – asking his girl who she was texting, where she was going and with who, and why she didn’t want to talk to him for x amount of time. Then it got worse, to the point of trying to control what she’d wear, who she’d spend time with, and what she’d eat. Jim was realizing that what he was doing was wrong, but his fear of his best girl cheating on him or leaving him would get the better of him every time, and he’d make things worse, until one night, when he’d used physical force. As soon as it had happened he knew he’d made a massive mistake and got away from her as quickly as he could. The next day he left call after call and text after text until both of her boxes were full. He even went to her house – multiple times – and was threatened with the cops being called. Word got around at school, and suddenly, he was the thing he hated the most – the center of attention.
  
  As the week passed, word had gotten around that his ex-girlfriend, too afraid to come back to school with Jimmy there, had transferred schools. Suddenly he was enemy number one, and was constantly harassed and picked on, which even he knew was deserved. On one fateful morning, however, one of the popular guys on campus had gone too far, spreading rumors that Jimmy had been hurting her all along, and that he was a danger to everyone, and that he should be expelled. That this ran in his family, and that this was why his mom had gone, too. Jimmy had tried to ignore the words and simply get to class, but as soon as his family had been brought up, he couldn’t control himself. Within seconds he was in a pile on the floor with the jock, landing blow after blow to the boy’s face. No one could get him off of the loud mouth until the teachers ran over and managed to pry him off. The victim of his beating had to be taken to the hospital and was later diagnosed with permenant loss of hearing in one ear and a severely crooked nose.
  
  Because of what had happened with his ex, as well as the injury he’d caused to a fellow student and his declining grades, he was placed into a juvenile detention center out of state. While there, he’d managed to graduate high school. He agreed to participating in therapy and anger management classes, and because he was an ‘upright inmate,’ he was released after three years, when his sentence was originally seven.
  
  With his new lease on life, Jim turned to a more secluded life. He managed to find a few acres of land for sale at the edge of a quiet, green forest, and bought it immediately, with the help of his pops, who was also trying to turn over a new leaf after everything had happened. The two of them bonded over building a little place for Jim to live, and before they knew it, a home was born.
  
  To keep his mind off of the guilt that was now always looming over his head, Jim signed up for a wood working class at the local community college, and immediately fell in love. He took class after class, immersing himself in working with his hands and trying to make something out of nothing. Of all of the classes he took, glass was his favorite. With the small amount of funds, he had left, he immediately began work on a studio, and took odd job after odd job to fill the studio with supplies and equipment he’d need to work on his art from home. With hard work and luck, Jimmy was able to make his dream studio a reality, and selling his work at local coffee shops and galleries has been enough to keep him afloat… For the most part.

• Personality

  While it's true that since Jimmy's moved on from his unsavory past and grown from it, he still has a lot to learn. He can still have a very controlling and manipulative side, and it's the main reason why he tends to be very cold and distant at first pass. He learned a lot from his anger management classes and his therapy sessions, and he still takes part in both of these, though less often, but is so afraid of relapsing that he tries to avoid people, especially women. It's not hard for Jim to keep away from people, as he his on the shy side, and doesn't really know how to hold a conversation comfortably. He can be awkward and over think things until he's dizzy. Sometimes he can even be a bit of a jerk, if he's afraid of becoming attached to someone, in hopes that they'll stay away from him, so he doesn't have the chance of repeating the past.
  
  Since he is so distant from other people, Jim tends to be the quiet, observant type. One of his favorite things to do, when he braves the public, is sit in cafes and parks and the like, and watch people. If he sees someone he finds interesting, he draws them. He gets a lot of joy out of people watching, and doing that with a nice coffee and a cigarette is the perfect day.
  
  Interestingly enough, Jimmy can actually be a pretty funny guy, once he's around people he's comfortable with, which aren't many. He's got a pretty good sense of humor, and likes to make light of all of the stupid things he's done in the past, and the crappy situations he's gotten himself into. While the humor itself is self-deprecating, it's almost a form of healing for him. Once he's made a joke about being a suck-up to the cops for getting out on good behavior, you know you're in for the long haul with him.
  
  Since the start of his community college career, Jimmy has become a very hard worker, and prides himself on the fact that he can be quite industrious. He's immensely grateful that he can make a living doing what he loves, therefore he works long and hard at it. Jim can work for hours without needing a break, or, more accurately, without realizing he needs a break. He prides himself on his work ethic, as well as the work that he manages to produce.
  
  Unfortunately, sometimes he can be a crappy friend. More than likely it's from all of his past experiences, but he's not exactly the most dependable person, and when he feels threatened, he thinks of himself first before anyone else. It's just another thing about himself he's trying to fix, but old habits die hard.
