The Best Friend
This is his best friend. Obviously. But with Ira, this is someone he trusts. Absolutely. And he's made sure that he can do that without fear of betrayal. If this person, his best friend, betrayed him, it would be the ultimate blow to Ira; that's how important this person is to him. This person would probably also work in the circus; a trapezist as well would make more sense, as they'd already have to trust each other quite a lot to perform their act. No set personality, but definitely someone who wouldn't mind Ira's cynic nature.
The Audience Member
The Audience Member has two different variations: one kind of creepy, the other a little more acceptable by today's standards. The first is a character who keeps showing up to Ira's circus shows, wherever they happen to be. While this might be every performance in one country or across several, Ira does notice them, and eventually approaches them. They must have a reason; this opens the way to some (shady) business. The other is just another attendee to the circus, but one Ira takes a noticing to. This can be mixed with Fling(s).
The Fling(s)
The Fling(s) can be literally anyone that Ira finds attractive, obviously the ones he actually pursues. However, it should be noticed that Ira never seeks a long-term relationship, the "longest" he goes for are maybe two months, three if he stays in one place long enough. But, more often than not, they last on average from thirty minutes to about a couple days if he's interested enough. These characters can be male or female, though he leas towards women more.He may or may not be really attracted to older, gruff-type men.
The Mentor
Ira's mentor doesn't have to be the ringmaster of his circus, but it would make the most sense for them to be a person of influence in the circus. However, that does have to be true. Think Uncle Joe-type from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This person is the second most trusted person who Ira trusts. As a mentor does, they give him advice and the only sense of having a loving parent he's felt in a while. It's possible that their relationship is more tough love, though.
The Circus Folk
The Circus Folk are anyone else who is involved in the circus itself, whether it be a performer or a manager, or some bum that always travels with them, living off their "scraps." The possibilities are endless. I think it would be rather fun to build an entire circus, maybe even get a group one day. If I did, folks would have to be pretty committed, but it wouldn't be an intense group, for sure. Eh, it's a lot of empty words, but talk to me if you're interested; I think you've got the gist of the Circus Folk now anyways.
