• Background

  Elia has grown up in the royal castle her entire life. With both of her parents working in the castle, she has had the privilege to learn how to read and write, much like the royal children. She's also had the opportunity to utilize the many things the castle has to offer, such as the large library where her love for reading took form.
  
  Growing up, in between times where she was helping her mother clean rooms that have gone years without any occupants or helping her father make the meals for the royal family, Elia discovered the training yard. The place where all of the King's men fought and trained at all hours of the day. She became fascinated by how they moved and fought each other. After a while of continuously showing up, the guards began to know her by name, said hi to her if they saw her in the halls. They even began showing her a few moves here and there in swordplay.
  
  Every day that passed with her watching the men, the more her dream to become a guard herself grew. The only people that believed in her dream were the guards that had become her friend. The ones who disapproved of her dream the most were her parents, who always said wanting to become a guard was a call for death.
  
  Even so, when Elia grew to the age of fifteen she joined the guard. The other trainees that joined along with her didn't believe she would make it, she was only a girl. Those comments only made Elia more determined to prove them wrong. After three years of training, hall duty around the castle, arresting pesky criminals, and more tedious jobs, Elia rose to the top and was promoted to Royal Kingsguard. She gained the respect of her fellow guards and her superiors and became the first female to be promoted and also the youngest. With being a Royal Guard came the option to learn a type of magic as a further weapon in her arsenal. Elia chose shadow magic, ancient and near-forgotten magic.
  
  Now, at the age of 23, Elia has mastered her magic and several other weapons and has become known as The Raven, a nickname originally coined by her mother that her fellow guards thought suited the darkness that seemed to follow her. Even with her achievements, her parents will still say they aren't thrilled with their only daughter being a guard; but they also say how proud they are. There have even been rumors she might be the heir apparent to the captain of the guard, but no one is sure.
