Laoghaire MacGregor

Early Life

Laoghaire was born Laoghaire Patience Elspeth MacGregor to a middle class family and is the daughter of a ship owner and fisherman and his wife in January of 1640. She is aware of her exact birthday thanks to an old tradition of families writing birth dates and wedding/marriage dates down in the family religious book because of the expense in getting official documentation and no one could do it at the time so it was up to the family to record it. Until the age of 10, she would travel with her father on the single ship he owned out on to the water during a fishing trip and not a long export trip often dressed as a boy because of strange superstition. once what became to be known as the Golden Age Of Piracy has began, she stopped going because the waters had become unsafe. As she grew up, her schooling mostly was that of writing, reading, and preparing to run her own home for her own family some day, when she wasn’t learning what she was supposed to, her mother had her in the garden learning what herbs did what, and how to use them, which ones were poison and which ones were not.


The Change

After she had grown and become of age, she helped her, then fiance, run his apothecary. She worked with him from the age of 19 to the age of 21 in 1661. In the summer of 1661, she had known there was a little bit of a pandemic of young children getting sick after visiting an abandoned convent that had been inhabited by Germans centuries before. She had figured out what they were consuming was actually the non-native to the area Lily of the Valley, which looks almost identical to the harmless Ramsons, otherwise known as Wild Garlic, and they were getting sick and some dying from it. One day in the summer she was working on a widow's son, out of pure human error she accidentally administered too much of that was supposed to cure him, Belladonna, thus harming him more. She stepped away from working outside the apothecary out of fear that she would do it again.

That same summer, the widowed mother of the child she last tried to heal came forward once she stepped out of blinding grief to accuse her of using witchcraft to murder her son. The rumor had spread quickly as it did not help much that they were in the dawning of the Restoration period and witch hysteria had been plaguing England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland in the past 50 years. Upon the village finding her guilty, she was sentenced to a hanging.

After her trial and when people thought she was dead, as fate would have it, things were improperly done and the knots weren't tied properly so she had things digging in to her skin for hours until her soon to be creator, a seemingly middle aged woman, found her and released her and took the liberty to change her to relieve her of all the pain she was in, or at least that was the logic behind the thought.

As soon as she woke up, she attacked her creator out of anger at what she had done to her before running away to London, knowing she couldn't stay there in the small village after everyone thought she had died, she also started her nomadic life as she felt she didn't belong to any one place or anyone.



Life After



The 17th Century

Laoghaire traveled around Europe for the next few centuries while also traveling to the new world for a few decades in the late 18th century. She rearranged her name and added names to her name every place she went, she lived in Wales, England, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Russia and Albania, prior to and after the new world. whilst in the Netherlands, she gained a habit of feeding off of aristocrats as she did not like their behavior to those who weren't as lucky. After living in the Netherlands, she went back to England to live in the countryside, alone.

The 18th Century

Through her travels, she became quite the scholar and learned French, English and Russian. When she arrived to the new world in the mid-18th century after being an adviser to the Jacobite cause a decade before in Scotland and France, and feeding off rats from the ship to stay alive, she tutored young girls in how to be proper young ladies, showing them how to be a good hostess, good penmanship, how to sew, among other things, much like her own primary education at their age. She had become wary of children after the incident that led to her life but still enjoyed helping them become proper ladies. During the Revolution, she found herself aiding the Culper Ring for a while, her experience with the Jacobites put in a little inclination to being drawn to that kind of chaotic but calm environment.


The 19th Century

Through the 19th century, she lived a rogue life after leaving a small coven she had been a part of when she started to feel like she had been intruding and them not treating her well. She stayed in America but moved around between the eastern sea board and what was being called the frontier, leaving again for France again until the 1830's and then back to England, bouncing between there and Ireland until the end of Queen Victoria's reign and there she found a new coven that eventually broke apart and she went to Russia for almost two decades. Despite being a rogue, those who knew her, knew her as a proper Victorian lady.


The 20th Century


From 1901-1918, Loaghaire worked for a Russian Ballet Company using it as a way to learn to further control her movement, but never allowed anyone to photograph her after 1910 because of her lack of aging and people would notice that she was the same person even after pretending to be new once 1909-1910 rolled around. After leaving Russia in 1918, she made her way back to America and began work to become a nurse, feeling the calling back to that type of work, as soon as she completed her schooling, she started to work in the old Asylums, not wanting to jump straight back in to a doctor's clinic or ward just yet. Through the 20's up to the 80's or 90's she moved around the states, continuing to be a nurse, trying different departments until she grew tired and went back to England once again where she worked to save up some more money and do a few things to get in to University where she would get her MD in Cardiology.
