Emyrs had always been a loner for as far as he could remember. Born and raised in Ireland, the boy worked as a stable hand for one of the village farmers. Homeless and without family, the orphan found a way to survive on the streets. Thieving from the rich frequently, stealing from stores and market booths, the boy managed. However, the food he did find, he generally gave away, keeping only a little for himself.
Emyrs wasn't very bright and truthfully, lacked skill for most things. Around the age of eleven, however, he started to realize he was good at tinkering with things, making little trinkets and toys for the younger orphan children like himself. He was content with his life, for the most part, but of course, like every happy story, their is always the bump in the road.
Finally getting caught for stealing, the man he tried to rob decided he could get his money worth from the child. Rather than turning him in or killing him, the man sold Emyrs as a child slave, shipping him off to England with others who shared the same fate. Luckily for the child, as soon as the boat docked, he fled unnoticed. It was until he found a small farming village much like the one he lived in before, that he decided to stop running. Remaining homeless, he once again turned to stealing, but after word had gotten around that a mage had come to the village, he grew curious. Until one day, he decided to meet this man.
Of course, Elias, the mage, took pity on the child bringing him in. Emyrs had possessed a very small amount of mana, but it was enough that the mage could take him in as a mentor. On top of this, he had another child, Lucius, who quickly became a brother to the boy. From then on, the rest was history. The two quickly became his family and he was raised to be arguably one of the best alchemists England had ever known. -
Personality
Emyrs acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he's kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. The man has good heart with a free spirit, but he often disrupts the order of society and punishes those who do well for themselves. Without a doubt, he is the true definition of a vigilante.
While he may view freedom and the randomness of actions as ultimate truths, he likewise places value on life and the welfare of each individual. Respect for individualism is also great. By promoting this philosophy, Emyrs seeks to spread his values throughout the world. To him, freedom and independence are as important to life and happiness.
He is a strong individualists marked by a streak of kindness and benevolence. He believes in all the virtues of goodness and right, but again, has little use for laws and regulations. He have no use for people who "try to push folk around and tell them what to do." His actions are, without a doubt, guided by his own moral compass which, although good, may not always be in perfect agreement with the rest of society.
And although he is generally viewed as good, he tends to be selfish and maybe a bit greedy. Emyrs holds personal freedom and welfare above anything else. He dislikes confining laws, self-discipline, and detests authority with every fiber of his being.
Even so, he has a "beatific" attitude toward existence. In his opinion, any laws, social structures, or other such hierarchies that restrict his freedom are abhorrent and to be done away with. The inviolable right of the individual to seek his own pleasures is one of the cornerstones of society; but, being good, he will not tread on others to get his own way, for he feels that every other creature has the right to the pursuit of pleasure as well. Life is valuable, but without sufficient personal freedom it is demeaned. Life and freedom are the foundation of the universe and the defining goal of his personal quest for self-fulfillment.
